Comparing him to my other buckskins (though they aren't trained) he seems somehow ... shadowed (especially on his back)?

So is it some expression of sooty or just shadows from his muscles because he is trained? (his dam had this coloring as well) I haven't had much experience with sooty so I really ain't sure -.-'

Someone help, please?
