Suggestions- RETURNED TO HWO!
Hey everybody! I've come back to Horse World Online after being offline for a long time, because I forgot my password
And I have no idea what to do.
I have some questions about things that happened while I was gone:
1. What's happening with this racehorse obssession?
2. What's up with the Estonian Native craze- what on Earth is happening here?!
3. What should I do?
4. Why is everybody talking about Thoroughbreds, giant Shetlands (I have no idea) and low COI??
5. Did some players get banned? I'm hearing rumours.
6. I kinda need a trained horse, but I don't have money for one, or the money to get one trained. Does anybody know a good, cheap trainer?
7. Green movement talk.. What's this about?
8. What is a ping, and how do you do it
9. So there are some players that I've never ever heard of and suddenly they're Premium, some are HWO famous, others are acting like they're famous, and some are truly awesome and I'm kinda bummed out that I didn't get to take part in their awesome contests or buy their awesome horses, and others just out of the blue have 50 million or more..
So, could someone explain to me what happened to these players while I was gone? Not tryna be rude or anything, but I've never seen you before on HWO so I'm kind of confused as to what kind of projects you're doing and how you got 50 million..
-Poseikip and Anonymous_Neon: They've hosted this huge trained horse sale which is really cool and I'm sad that I missed it.
-appleloosafarm: woah woah woah you're like a super famous trainer how did I miss that?
-Stormchaser Stables (or Stable, sorry, I'm not sure what your username is
) :How did your mare win 30 million game credits?! That's impossible
-Retsi: Ok, I've definitely heard of you, but I'm super confused. What are you breeding? North African Barbs? Thoroughbreds? Akal-tekes?
-Claire: Same as appleloosafarm! And also, are your trained horses still for sale and are there any cheaper ones?
Velvetpie16: What are you breeding? Why do you need green movement horses???

And I have no idea what to do.

Re: Suggestions- RETURNED TO HWO!
Haha yeah I haven't been around long, you probably never saw me when you were online before.
To answer (some) of your questions,
1. Racehorses are.. "trending", as you could say, and racing comps are widely popular currently, try breeding them!
2. (And the reason why my mare earned 30mil) Estonian Natives are where all the money is! High purse comps are running and the prize money is up to 20mil. Try breeding some. Although the entry fee is 1mil.. I guess I could enter your horse for you.
4. Other "trending" topics. If you want to know about the TBs, read my Farm Logs. If you want to know about the 0 COI, ask GrayJay, WILD_FLICKA, Zer0 or Sky Bay Stables. If you want to know about giant SPs, ask Poseikip. Boy, they've got giants to show you. Or you could take a look at Bita's (Bitapetrone) Shetland beast, Snowball The Mighty!
5. Yes there were a few disturbances, but it's not my place to tell you the rest..
6. Try training one yourself. It's quite fun.
7. Ask VelvetPie16
9. Well, I earned 30mil with my Estonian Native mare, as I explained above. But I think you'd rather hear the players personally tell you what they're doing, right?

So, Ping is simply quoting someone who you wish to get their attention...OceanArabians wrote:Ping
Stormchase answered many of your questions
However how do people get millions (and in some cases several billion)
Eventing, Eventing and even more eventing....
With that you need to save money, not keep buying horses that will ultimately be useless to you...and that means, you need a business plan or at least a few goals in mind.
Some examples of high earners

It is quite possible to have millions in a short period of time, I started out in late April (25th or something) and currently almost at my goal of $5 billion. 90% of that was made by eventing, the rest by selling horses/training/stud fees.
As far as the giant Shetlands, they are different, so they do have a market value, if they can prove their worth...
Arabs for the most part are cheap, because there are so many to choose from in the market place...however, if you have something like this people will pay a pretty penny because it is different

Green movement is somewhat difficult to get in mares it seems (it is difficult to produce 7 stat mares as well), and since people want to have the best 'dressage' horses they want green movement. Even rarer is gold movement and strength (neither is impossible to get, but occurs mostly on stallions, which usually have better stats).

Re: Suggestions- RETURNED TO HWO!
GrayJay here. Regarding 0% COI, I've posted below Larissar's blurb on this in the "FAQ and Getting Started" thread: http://www.horseworldonline.net/forum/v ... =12&t=1692
COI stands for Coefficient of Inbreeding. A 7-gen COI of 0% means that there is no common ancestor within 7 generations (I think; someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Some of us (named above) have decided to avoid any inbreeding, thus keeping the COI of our horses at 0%. This is not a priority for most (the vast majority of players), so it does make the game more of a challenge -- it is difficult to find horses on the market or for stud that have COI of 0% (one often has to settle for low HGP or look in the Adoption Centre). I'm finding that 0% COI horses tend to conform more closely to the breed (e.g., your Arabians actually look like Arabians), but raising the HGP of one's herd is much, much slower. Inbreeders can collaborate to help in this goal. As for me, I am new to the game and play so slowly that I am still mostly working on the foundation horses (Arabian, Belgian, Caspian, Forest Horse, North African Barb, Przewalski, Shetland Pony, Tarpan, Turkmene).
"How does COI affect my horse’s performance/physical well-being/fertility?
COI is prediction of genetic homozygosity. Essentially, it estimates how related a horse’s parents are. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what the gene is. Inbreeding can increase the likelihood that a poor gene is enhanced, but it can also enhance a good gene too. There are over 110 genes in the game as of writing this. Some have positive effects, some have negative effects, and some are neutral (for example colours). Always remember that COI is an estimate; a horse could have much more or much homozygosity than its COI would suggest."
