Feathers?
Hi,
Sometimes I see people talking about their horses having 'feathers'. But what are these? I know birds have feathers but I don't think that's the same at this game haha

Re: Feathers?
Oh I found the answer after doing some research b looking at the differences between horses with and without feathers. In my country they call them 'sokken' (socks in English). so very different from this language :')

Re: Feathers?
In my country we call them hoof-beards. I didn't even realize how odd it sounds until I read this thread

Re: Feathers?
In German the word's Gefieder. Sounds pretty weird to me, even if I am half German.Arctictea wrote:In my country we call them hoof-beards. I didn't even realize how odd it sounds until I read this thread

Re: Feathers?
'Gefieder' sounds something like 'geveerd' (Dutch, feathered in English). Some German words look or are pronounced almost the same as in Dutch, so for me Gefieder isn't very weird.Stormchase Stables wrote:In German the word's Gefieder.
