3* First Generation Mongolian
When cross breeding to get another breed, like a Mongolian in this case, I had thought the foal needs to have 4*s in the breed eval for Mongolian in order to become a first generation Mongolian. Is this not true?
Here is why I am asking: http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2893
She is a first generation Mongolian, but only has 3*s in the evals.

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
I am thinking she might be 4* when she is 4 years as she is still a foal and the height is not final yet. So I've noticed some of my horses being 3 stars for creating a new breed when foals and then when they are 4 years they are 4* as their height is final. But I a just guessing...

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
A foal must have 3 stars in Height, Type and Size to qualify for a new breed. Build is listed as a reference only but not counted because there isn't actually a "Build" gene, it's a combination of other genes, plus the overall fitness of the horse too. A horses build description could change as his weight changes, and this is why you are probably see the horse sometimes within the build range, and sometimes outside of the build range.

It's height that doesn't qualify.

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
Larissar, the problem with my girl though is it is her height that doesn't qualify. I'm not sure I am understanding what you said. It sounds like correct height is needed?

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
Sorry, I didn't have a Mongolian book to evaluate that particular horse with. I was just responding to the part about requiring 4 stars which is incorrect.
In the particular case of your foal though I'm not sure why she managed to become a Mongolian but I have a suspicion that the Evaluator is mis-calculating something. I'll have a look into this and let you know what I find.

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
I just ran into that issue with my WAB filly:

3*, none in height.

Ok, gotcha Larissar. Do you want me to make a Bugs and Errors thread for this?

Actually yeah thats a good idea. I check there first when I'm hunting down bugs, so I could miss it/forget about it here. Thanks!

Re: 3* First Generation Mongolian
So, my filly matured to 14hh on the dot, and the height range for WABs is 14hh-15.1hh. I have noticed that when a horse is a smallest appropriate height or the largest appropriate heigh (14hh or 15.1hh in this case), the evaluator doesn't see them as "in range" for some reason. So, she actually fits the criteria perfectly, the evaluation just needs tweaking. something like "greater than or equal to" 14 rather than just "greater than" 14.
