Cremello with Flaxen or Pangare?
Came across this horse hiding in one of my pastures
MFI Trakehner ♀

I'm not quite sure if I see a definite hint of Mealy around the mouth and on the flank.

Re: Cremello with Flaxen or Pangare?
The light legs definitely indicate some kind of pangare. However, the light mane is simply a product of being a cremello and not a result of flaxen. (It's possible she has flaxen, but the mane would already be light anway.) Apart from that she also has a decent bit of sooty to her.Baranduin Brewster wrote:Came across this horse hiding in one of my pastures

Re: Cremello with Flaxen or Pangare?
Thanks, the white legs were throwing me...I haven't seen that type of white on the legs except on the flaxens or silvers. most pangares I've seen tend to be more cream/off white.Silverine wrote:The light legs definitely indicate some kind of pangare. Re: Cremello with Flaxen or Pangare?
It's because it's showing on a double-cream. The pangare lightens red to yellow and cream lightens yellow to white.Baranduin Brewster wrote: Thanks, the white legs were throwing me...I haven't seen that type of white on the legs except on the flaxens or silvers. most pangares I've seen tend to be more cream/off white.

Re: Cremello with Flaxen or Pangare?
This effect is not caused by pangare. Pangare would appear not just on the lower parts of the legs but on the belly and around the muzzle as well. This is definitely the effect of flaxen.
