Second Breed

Post by flrancho »

I'm working from the ground up on trying to create my own Welsh Cob line. Once that's finished I'm considering adding another breed, or possibly even breeds if I don't get too overwhelmed, but I'm not sure what I'd like. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or should I just stick with the one breed?

I think most of us have more than one breed.
It depends on what you want the other breed (or breeds) to be. Would you like to look at similar horses throughout, or substantially different? Having no real difference may mean that your desire to see something different may dilute your bloodlines later, or encourage you to get a different breed, just for something else.
Color is also something you should take into consideration. Even I fell to the trap of having the spotties in my barn. (Luckily the other account didn't take the bait)
Consider those suggestions and let them weigh on your decision. The community can always need certain things, but you are the only one who will be looking at them and working with them daily, turning the bloodline into something you think you want (for whatever reason).
Make sure the breed, the bloodline, the color, or the look (conformation), is something you want to be staring at on your screen.
