Trying to Breed Sorraia's...

Post by ToiletWater13 »

Hello Horseworldonline, I have a question for anyone who can answer it.
I am working on a project that requires me to breed a significant amount of breeds that are not really common in the game; Sorraia's are one of these breeds. In case you don't know, Sorraia's require a TarpanxMongolian mix (as well as a TapanxWAB, although that's less relevant) and when I bred these two breeds together, I ended up with a Dulmen.
Can I breed a Sorraia by using a Dulmen, or is it beyond hope?

Beyond hope I'm afraid.

I'll try to sell the ones that came out as different breeds, then. It would be a shame to rehome a new breed without at least trying to sell them. Thanks for answering :)

:geek: In general: to produce the breed you have to exactly follow the recipe in Breeds Wiki. The only equivalents are, for example, (Hackney x Morgan) = (Morgan x Hackney). The computer won't accept a Baladi if the recipe calls for (North African Barb x Arabian).

Sorraias are very difficult to get. One possible clue is to see whether the stallion has sired any. Another is to use the Sorraia Book to evaluate potential parents for traits. Sometimes a tall mare makes up for a short stallion and vice-versa.

As the owner of Yuletide Dancer (sometimes in my 2nd account, Xant’hippe), a (Tarpan x WAB) stallion, I've seen people breed mares to him only to rehome the foals--sad. He has produced one Sorraia colt out of maybe 100 matings with ~12 to 20 mares. Some owners quit after 1 failure, others kept trying. The successful colt arrived on about the 6th or 7th mating with that mare. One mare spent her entire reproductive career with him and the owner rehomed all the foals, probably 15 of them. Her name, only too appropriate, was "Tin of Sorrows".

Dancer's half-brother Sorran is a much better bet for Sorraias (9 out of 10 keepers, anyway). I don't own Sorran, so this is a public service in more than one sense:

Anyway, good luck with the project! :D

I plan to, my friend, I just haven't gotten around to doing it- I'll go do that now and set her for offers only.
I hope she serves whatever project you're working on well. If I get any more of them, I will post them for sale under that thread. :)
