Again, I know he's brown, but could someone please let me know if there's a more specific term for his colour. Thanks :)

Phenotypically he is brown, But genotypically he is bay. There is no Gene for brown.

There is actually a brown allele of the agouti gene, which is separate from the normal allele which causes normal bay. The same goes for the variation called wild bay, which is also an allele of the agouti gene. It is possible to test for these different alleles of agouti, they are different variations of the same gene but genetically they are still different.

That has been debunked. There is no separate allele. Brown is simply a different expression of agouti.

As far as I know, we use (or as I see it, we use) the Gowers Agouti Model, which theorizes four 4 alleles on the agouti locus. As far as I know, that has not yet been proven or discarded, but by using this model of her theory, it helps to explain the varying degrees of expression of the agouti gene and also the eumelanin expression.

If something has changed, I would certainly be interested to read up more about it.

That being said, this game uses this agouti theory so regardless of what has or has not been proven in real life, October Spirit is a brown agouti expression horse.
