Nd1? Countershading?

Post by Aliw1995 »

I'm wondering if horses in this game can have Nd1 (non-dun 1) and countershade markings? These are markings such as dorsal stripes or zebra markings on horses who have no dun dilution gene. I have a couple of horses who appear to have light neck bars and had slight stripe under the mane as foals, but no strong dun dilution. They also appear to have a "mask" of a slightly darker colour on their faces. Example: My A-T Mare and her Colt Son

As far as I know, these types of horses are expressing the dun gene (so no Nd1 gene). The dun gene can express very gently to a shading that could be mistaken for the cream, pearl and champagne dilutions (okay, I know they don't look anything alike, but my point is the expression can appear very strong making the horse look much lighter than expected).

That being said, I haven't yet found if there is a release describing exactly what the gene handles (like for our appaloosa release, it actually stated what genes, how many alleles and so on).
