Spotted Belgian project completion. What would everybody like to see?
Well, I have met all of the goals for my Belgian project. I have bred [several] lines of spotted Belgians, bred them back to pure while keeping the COI under 50%, the evaluation scores to 4* and 5*, with no reds in the reports. As soon as the last mares drop their babies, I will be closing the project and the pastures will be open for something new. Before I delve into that subject, I would like to share some of my favorite Belgians:

Of course, I love all of the Belgians and have had fun breeding them, I am just getting bored. I do have two others going, my Arabian and [relatively new] Danish Warmblood project. I have met all of the goals for the Arabian one but have expanded it and am now aiming to breed 6/7 stats for both mares and stallions, which should be a fun challenge. I started with 3 Forest Horse mares for the Danish project and have progressed along quite nicely, right now I have 3 80% Part Danish Warmblood x Forest Horse mares ready to drop their foals any day now. My end goal for that one is to have a line of show jumping horses. Still a long way to go through!
I just can't have two projects; I need 3!
I was thinking maybe a breed that doesn't seem too common [from what I've seen]...maybe a line of Paso Finos? Canadian Warmbloods? If not those, maybe a line of cutting and reining Quarter Horses. Or some appaloosa Friesians (one of my favorite baroque breeds in real life <3). I was also thinking versatile Appendix Quarter Horses (trail and jumping---but I might be biased as my mare in real life is an appendix who's a great western and english horse), or once I completely finished with my Arabians, mixing them with Thoroughbreds and creating an Anglo Arabian competition line. Now I'm getting off on a ramble,
!
I'm just plain up addicted to breeding towards goals now...love working towards them. What breeds, coat colors etc. would everybody like to see in the game?

Wonderful job with your projects! I would love to see 5* Quarter horses available, I know that currently that's very hard to find. At least 80% of Quarter horses have their body size too small. 4* would be ok too, as long as height was the problem. Quarabs and Appendix Quarter horses would be amazing too! I am trying to breed all three of these breeds!JillJessie1997 wrote:Well, I have met all of the goals for my Belgian project. Re: Spotted Belgian project completion. What would everybody like to see?
I'm 99.5% sold on breeding towards a line of 5* Quarter Horses as the 3rd project. I've owned a couple in the real world and they are truly just awesome horses; wonderful temperaments. My lesson horse in the real world was a Quarab, and he was also wonderful....the endurance of the Arabian yet the bombproof temperament of the Quarter Horse---awesomeness! I would wait until I'm completely finished with my Arab project before trying for Quarabs though, then we could hopefully begin it with some gold or greens in the linescassietaylor27 wrote:Wonderful job with your projects! And as I wrote in the OP, my mare is an Appendix....she's a mixed package hahaha....one day she'll be bombproof like QHs are known for, the next I'm holding her back because the gopher turtle on the ground has moved an inch and it might eat her

Re: Spotted Belgian project completion. What would everybody like to see?
Wonderful!!! If it's ok with you, we could partner to breed 5* Quarter Horses together! That would be so much fun! ive also owned a Quarter in real life and she was amazing <3 My sister has an Appendix now and she's so goofy but a darlingJillJessie1997 wrote:I'm 99.5% sold on breeding towards a line of 5* Quarter Horses as the 3rd project. , I'm also beginning to drop six stat fillies).

She makes up for her multiple personality disorder by being an awesome trail horse and an amazing jumper....this girl loves to jump seriously...all you have to do is set her up and tell her GO...off she goes! I was thinking if I open up that project, aiming for high-spirited temperaments....who knows

Re: Spotted Belgian project completion. What would everybody like to see?
Sure, that would be awesome and loads of fun! How would that be pulled off exactly though? I've never had a partner on here...I know pinging each other on the forums could be a way of communication, but I'm talking the breeding aspect of it. How would that work? I love the Quarter related breeds myself, although the purebred QHs are more bred towards ranch work, I love me a good Appendix like my mare, geared more towards jumping or an english discipline. She's pretty goofy herselfcassietaylor27 wrote:Wonderful!!! If it's ok with you, we could partner to breed 5* Quarter Horses together! Re: Spotted Belgian project completion. What would everybody like to see?
Awesome!! This is gonna be so much fun! Idk how to ping on a forum, but we could agree to get on chat to figure things out once in a while. Of have our own forum to talk in. As for the breeding aspect, all we do is loan eachother horses. For instance, you have a Appendix stallion but you don't have a mare, so I let you use mine. We kinda "share" horses to breed the best quality Quarters possible. So do you want to do just Quarters together? Or do you want to do Appendix and Quarabs too? Just let me knowJillJessie1997 wrote:Sure, that would be awesome and loads of fun! How would that be pulled off exactly though? To ping somebody it's just like quoting them only you write their username in quotation marks aftercassietaylor27 wrote:Awesome!! This is gonna be so much fun! And ah okay, that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing that up

Until I take a couple more horse ownership classes it's best we stick with the Quarters for now

Until I take a couple more horse ownership classes it's best we stick with the Quarters for nowI have only 2 Belgian mares left to foal then I can sell some of the Belgians and make room in those pastures for the Quarters. The other ones are for retired horsies then my Arabs and Danish Warmblood project xD
I'm fine with just Quarters too! I can own a lot of horses and I'm selling my Appys so I will have lots of room!
Oh! excited because I bred my first Appendix colt today!
Let me know when you're ready to start! You can look through my pastures and borrow whatever you need, all though I haven't gotten very far in my breeding Quarters yet since I just started!
