One of my favorite sayings for things that just don't quite 'compute' is to 'line them all up and take off the shoes and socks'... then sometimes I also add... 'hope that everybody isn't missing any toes, because that just screws everything up!'

I often find myself counting on my fingers too. It just shows we're visual learners. Perhaps if you had a better teacher (attuned to the way you learn), you would've gotten further or gotten there quicker.
We all have our limitations and they usually define how we learn, not what we can learn.
That's really interesting I never looked at it from that perspective before. I guess it didn't help I had the same teacher each time so there was no way to learn another way since she wanted it done her way. Oh well thankfully I'm long out of high school. lol

Just to throw in my two cents - there are some wealthier players on the game that deliberately set entry fees high and prizes at almost nothing because they don't want a lot of people in the competition. They want to test their horses against certain other people's horses, and since you can't dictate who can and can't enter competitions beyond setting breed, height, and age restrictions it is easier to make the fees prohibitively expensive.

Ahhh thank you for that clarification. I didn't know people help "private"(sorry for lack of better word lol) races. That's really cool though. :) Do they posted under the contests page on the forums? Just curious because I might like to start trying my horses in those but I want to know when they're coming up to make sure I have my best horses in tip top shape for them. :D

From what I've seen it's usually arranged between the players in the chat room.

That certainly gives me that much more reason to not enter certain competitions. I am soooo far off from even beginning to produce a line of show horses!

Ages ago I worked out the maximum entry fee that should be allowed if there is no added purse http://www.horseworldonline.net/forum/v ... f=3&t=2907
