Private Sale Addition

Post by ruby_jane »

If we are selling a horse between accounts, would it be possible to hide said horse from the sales page, so that other people can't see it, other than the person you send a link to or something?
I'm sick of putting horses up for a friend, and end up with some bidding war on my hands because people ignore the words "for x only" and bid anyway.

I agree! we need to have an option to hide the horse from public view and like a link or something to tag the person for whom it is meant to be.
tooooo many people don't pay attention when it says Not for sale, or For a friend, or RESERVED, or please don't buy.

Why does it really matter if others can see it or not? They're just wasting their time, you're not wasting yours.

Private sales have enabled us to have horses go to a specific farm, why does it really matter who can see a horse for sale or not?

It might be nice on the searchers side to be able to choose to see only those that are for purchasable sale versus bidding sale, but I see no real reason to spend time writing a section of game to be able to hide private sales, unless it's for the search criteria.

But that's my personal opinion.

A lot of the horses I put up are my good stallions going away from training and are just waiting for the trainer to pick them up due to timezone difference. I've once had like 30 notifications in one afternoon of people trying to outbid each other for the horse, that none of them were going to get anyway.
The notifications are 1. annoying and 2. getting in the way of my breeding notifications so I have trouble finding all my foals that I've bred

Maybe if your ad trash-talks the horse: "evil pony", "bites and kicks", "can't win anything", "stupid git eats his/her head off" ... ;)

Although it does make for far too many notices (and I do understand -- but it took so long to get Private Sales *at all*), the annoyance factor isn't, IMO, as bad as the old threat of "losing" a horse that was bought mistakenly (or greedily).

We can hope for further modifications, but considering the history of buying/selling in this game, let's at least be grateful for what we have.

SO ... big thanks to Tom and especially Larissa on the Private Sales, and continuing service, like fixing the recent Competitions bug! :)

You can always go into your notification settings and turn notifications off. Especially if you're on two different time-zones and rarely or never on together; then what does it matter if you're looking for a specific notification? Check just before you get off under player, purchase offers before you log off.

I do admit it might be nice to have, but again I see a very niche 'market' for such an addition.
