Newbie seeks opinions
Hi there,
I'm really new to the game and currently training my five Arabians in Stamina as suggested. Don't have a lot of money (I keep spending it on Player Skills Training). My problem is that I have three horses from the tutorial stage. The stallion is fairly average, but the mare and her filly have terrible breeder's reports. I know the logical thing would be to rehome them, but I feel sentimental about them. What would happen if I just kept them around without working them? Would they age along with the others? Would I need to keep checking their feed levels?
I know, this is probably a stupid thing to do, as I can only have a certain number of horses in total -- but then again, I only have a certain amount of time to play the game at the moment...
Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and rehome. Any opinions?
Thanks,
Ocean Jasper

Re: Newbie seeks opinions
i looked at your horses and i would get rid of all the tutorial. Astro looks good and her foal. I wouldn't concentrate on tutorial so much. Train up both of them (i hope you are following the trainers manual somewhere on the help section, i think) and do your player skills. To make money and be able to up grade for free, do local shows. save your pony tokens. Its hard not to get attached but you have to make cuts to get better. This is all just my opinon

Thanks, Mega -- that's exactly the kind of opinion I need. As well as the sentimental thing, I feel like those three were doing really well in the Stamina training. But I think I know that I should just cut that loss and concentrate on replacing them with better horses. I really appreciate your input.

Re: Newbie seeks opinions
If they have terrible reports I would personally rehome them, but I know what you mean by sentimental. You can keep them around until they age out, but just know they'll take up space on your farm that you could use for better horses. Nothing would happen if you didn't work them except they would properly probably get fat (which answers your next question I guess, yes, you'd have to keep checking their feed levels/weight).Ocean Jasper wrote:Hi there,

Stand up for what's right even if you're standing alone.

Thanks JillJessie1997 -- I think I am going to have to rehome them. Clearly it's the sensible thing to do. Maybe I'll have a quick look at sales and think about new opportunities...
Thanks again for your helpful response,

Also remember that right now, there is no danger of death for being fat or thin. And as for rehoming, it's all about what goal in your game you're looking for. Are you looking to compete in the player made shows? Then the horses are probably unable to attain level 10 very easily. Are you looking to have a halfway decent local show horse? Then your horses may do enough for you without training (training does help, but you must also balance time training versus experience gain versus ability to earn, especially since it will take you additional time to train them up).
Right now, just have fun, learn the game and figure out where you want your goal to lead you to. Once you figure out your goal, you'll be able to answer whether those horses have any meaning beyond being sentimental.
Your horses will all age as long as you use days on that same account.

HI BlackOak2,
Your response really made me think (always a good thing!) I think my goals right now are to be able to compete in the player made shows and to breed for higher genetic potential, so for both of these my tutorial horses are not helpful. However (after all this) I don't think I can rehome the stallion and mare, as they produced progeny... I will check this out.
Thanks again to everyone who offered their opinion. You have helped me in learning the game.

If you rehome their foal first you should then be able to rehome the parents.Ocean Jasper wrote:HI BlackOak2,

Re: Newbie seeks opinions
Hi Ricardo Ardo,
You're right -- as a fluke, I did let the foal go first, and then tested to see if I could rehome her dam, and it worked. (I'm hanging on to the stallion for just a little longer and then will rehome him too.) I'm kind of glad this worked out, because it would have been depressing to have decided to rehome them and then not be able to...
