Genetic testing for color genes
If this is planned or already suggested, I did try to check before posting, and I'm sorry
I think it would be a good idea to be able to test for color genes, like we can in real life. I know we can test for most of the genes currently in the game at this point in real life. It would be a great help to be able to distinguish between certain colors, especially because of things like chocolate palominos being possible
It would also help to better understand horse genetics for those without outside experience, and help for people that are breeding for certain colors.

Re: Genetic testing for color genes
I would like it. But for certain price in PT and not too often - like in real life. Genetic tests are expensive.

Re: Genetic testing for color genes
This is a planned feature already but when it will be available in the game is not known.

Re: Genetic testing for color genes
Actually, not really in this day and age. UC Davis (university in California with a vet lab) charges like $25 for one gene test and has package deals too. I could imagine reputable breeders using them quite frequently. Especially paint and QH breeders looking to prevent LWO syndrome.Farant wrote:I would like it. Re: Genetic testing for color genes
Well, it's reasonable. But I would prefer to use PT for this anyway.Rossellini wrote:Actually, not really in this day and age. Re: Genetic testing for color genes
This is true! I have had all of my broodmares tested for 5 panel, and I breed for color too, so I get their color tests as well. I use Etalon Diagnostics as they have a $99 test for everything.Rossellini wrote:Actually, not really in this day and age.
