Experience points and training.

Post by Ricardo Ardo »

Does any body else think the experience points earned from training are hugely unbalanced? At my level I get about 30 points for training a 30 minute session using 100% energy, About two thirds the way through training this drops to 2 points for the same 30 minutes but only using 5% energy. It looks like experience is tied to the energy expended when in my opinion it would be better tied to the time that's used training.

Opinions?

Personally, I don't think it's tied to the energy used, but to the amount of stat gain. I noticed that points earned does drop drastically as the horse trains up, but so does the stat gain of those horses. In the beginning, the horse can gain 7, 8... perhaps more points to just one stat (depending on player learning), in the end, when the horse has 90 + points in a given stat, stat gain is 0.03 (give or take) so of course the experience earned is nearly negligible.

But really, I hadn't given it much thought before now. I cannot say for certainty that this could be considered unfair or not. Actually, I think it is a decently good way to dole out the points. Could there be a better way? Possibly. Does it require changing? I don't know.

It could mean it's much more worthwhile training all horses until 20% in all stats.

Personally, it makes sense..gradually losing the experience points gained. If you just started training/working with a young horse on the ground in real life, you gain much experience in the beginning as the horse is new and discipline is new. After a while of working with that horse on the ground you and the horse become accustomed to it and you really don't gain much new experience, unless you switch disciplines and try something new. The game was designed to mimic real life as much as possible...which to me is part of its charm and sets it apart from many other games.
