Green Eyes and weird bay
I have 2 studs with green eyes.
my Bay stud dose not look like other genetics are comeing into play. alot of his colts have green eyes but their coats are normal and no dilutions. they are either bay, chestnut or gray (with either bay or chestnut based). is there a weird pearl gene or a champagne gene?

I also have a bay who seams like a REALLY weird dark shade i have not seen. same with his brother and i think one of his colts.

here is a mare by the above stallion out of a bay mare

and here is another colt of similar color out of a gray mare (by the weird bay stud) and by the green eyed stud.

Green eyes is a sure sign of the tiger eye gene, an incomplete gene that when doubled, offers the shades of bright green eyes.
The other horse probably has the sooty gene, a dominant gene that expresses itself by odd dark shading or a darkening of the coat as the horse ages or both.

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
cool about the tiger eye!
As for the other he is producing foals that have a dilution going on.

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
The offspring also look like they might carry dun, but it's very gently expressed.
The two colts also have tiger eye expressed.

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
Dun is like gray. one parent HAS to have the Dun Gene. NO arab in my breeding program is dun. as much as i LOVE the color i dont want it in my breeding program. im already breaking my rules with a buckskin but he is not old enough to breed.

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
so here is an example of no way there can be dun

Sooty bay (sort of reminds me of a really dark classic dun. Just check his back for a dorsal stripe)

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
These two actually ARE dun. Notice the lighter body color as compared the color around the knees and on the face. Bay to Song also has a very clearly defined dorsal stripe (it's easier to see in her gallery photos). Dark Spring is harder to see, but he is also dun. His easiest mark to see is his dorsal stripe, though that is still light. He gets his dun from HH Spring Marcher, who gets his from HH Rosewater Bonnet. Hers is more difficult to see because she only has a foal picture but she has the somewhat faded body color characteristic of a dun foal. The same is true of her mother, HH Magical Sunday, and grandmother, HH Hazel Outline.Babson Arabian wrote:so here is an example of no way there can be dun

(This horse by Dark Spring is also dun under his grey.)
Working on tracing the line back to the AC dun. Will edit when I've found it.
So waaaayyyy back at the beginning of his pedigree, your horse has these ancestors:
Pete - AC Tarpan, dark bay dun
SS Punk - AC Przewalski, wild red bay dun
Georgia - AC Tarpan, dark bay dun
Honey Jack - AC Przewalski, very mealy wild bay dun
Orgullosa - AC Tarpan, dark bay dun
White Noise - AC Tarpan, dark bay dun
Trace starting from oldest and ending in your colt (italics is AC horses, red is mares, blue is stallions):
(SS Punk X Georgia) -> Sweet Tea (X Pete) -> Sippin' Tea -> PRS Latte Art*
(Honey Jack X Orgullosa) -> Spirit (X White Noise) -> PRS Citric Acid**
(*PRS Latte Art X **PRS Citric Acid) -> PRS Limoncello (X [NYR] Varia) -> [NYR] Loreno -> [NYR] Flimmer -> [NYR] Prideful -> |RC| Kristanya -> |RC| Pennisa -> |RC| Rebekkah -> |RC| Danzo -> [AF] Danzbrooke -> Summer Cry -> Thompson's Harvest -> Thompson's Lycanthrope -> Thompson's Drake -> Thompson's Tomato -> Thompson's Praetorian -> Thompson's Heart -> Thompson's Gravity -> Thompson's Star Counter -> Thompson's Roadrunner -> Thompson's Soldier -> Thompson's Titan -> HH Titan Incognito -> HH Duplicate Copy -> HH Presidential Elect -> HH Here Comes THe Prez -> HH Hazel Outline -> HH Magical Sunday -> HH Rosewater Bonnet -> HH Spring Marcher -> HH Dark Spring -> Bay to Song -> Song of Lavatation
(Just for the record, I didn't trace the ancestors to try and be mean or anything, I just really like to trace pedigrees.)

Re: Green Eyes and weird bay
^ thats amazing! i like tracing pedigrees as well so i understand! that weird bay is now explained. kinda bummed as i was trying to week non breed standard colors out of my program but it is what it is. i was expecting leg barring as i see in most duns on this game so that explained a bit. so tiger eye and dun.
