1. Western Trail Mongolians

I'd been breeding Mongolians for positive Agility-Balance-Intelligence comments for a while, and in September 2025 I accidentally got two colts with "agile as a cat" agility comment. So I thought: why not?

This is going okay, I guess. Today (2025-09-11) I got my very first colt with agility 56! With a "dime" comment and balance 40. Not bad.

My current second and third best studs, in training:






Goals:
- agility 50+, gold
- balance 40+, gold
- intelligence ?, gold
- stamina 35+, positive/green/gold if possible

Training (for Western Trail):
1. Lunge on the Flat (Arena, Walk) until 30 min. of Jumping Obstacles (Arena, Walk) takes 50% or less.
2. Jumping Obstacles (Arena, Walk) until Agility reaches 90+%.
3. Lunge over Jumps (Arena, Walk) until Intelligence reaches 90%.
4. Jumping Obstacles (Arena, Walk) until Agility reaches 100%.
5. Lunge over Jumps (Arena, Walk) until Intelligence reaches 100%
6. Lunge on the Flat (Arena, Walk) until Stamina reaches 100%.
Result:
Speed 82.79%
Strength 100%
Stamina 100%
Intelligence 100%
Movement 1%
Tempo 100%
Agility 100%
Balance 100%

Small update before going to bed:

Got my very first 58 agility. Unfortunately it's a filly :/

Also, I bought a 62 agility QH stud which should help me. But now I really want to wait and see if I can get agility 60+ without it

Also also, for some reason even my best studs with agility 50+ and nice balance can't gain more than 60.71 points in local shows and even place second from time to time, unlike one of my very first trained studs (linked in the first post) with only 47 agility. Weird.

Maybe they were too young (less than 5 yo) when I tested them?

P.S. I don't need more projects but I couldn't resist and bought a couple more QHs. Wanna breed them for Pole Bending...

...once I learn how to cull my herd and stop running into You can't have more horses message :/

- slightly shorter back length (+12 agility, +5 stamina)
- medium croup height (+10 agility)

So an ideal horse will have...
8+6+8+12+8+12+10= 64 agility
10+7+11+11+6= 45 balance
6+1+9+10+9+5= 40 stamina
Eh? Hopefully this is right. Math isn't one of my talents xD

Sorcerer 54 46 37 * just beat 62.42 in Western Trail Local Shows, which is, apparently, higher than current L9 world record (62.39)? Insane. I don't dream of beating it in player-made competitions though, it must take an eternity. If I want to beat the world record, the goal is around 63.0.

* Need to figure out the borders of Moderate (where Moderate ends and Moderately Thin and Moderately Fleshy start) for this horse.
** I'm not sure but I think it was "low" Calm on the edge with Bombproof. Need to explore this as well.

So I've played with weight and the highest score is 62.54 now. Wow. I... admit I was not ready to get this so soon.
Also, today I got my first 57 agility colt (finally) with a "cat" comment! And a 54 agility one with a "wouldn't bump into anything" comment. Don't know yet which one I will use as a stud. I really need to sort my mares first.
