Does Weight Affect Offspring?

I've been thinking since Im working on the Crummy Foal Quest, does the mare's weight affect how good or bad her foal will come out to be?
I've gotten to a standstill on my quest, where im only getting 10,400+ Foals and nothing lower. All my mares are overweight, and I was wondering if I basically starved them, would their foals become more crummy. Does weight also affect how long the horse will live? Or is it basically just random as well?

As far as we know, the horse’s weight and temperament don’t affect anything other than competition performance (and appearance).
