Varnish roan manes and tails
Hello everyone! In preparation for the coming update, I've started gathering some horses with LP patterns, and while they are really beautiful, there is one thing that bothers me: the manes and tails of the horses turn completely grey.
An example: A03

He is only 13, but I think he looks so old. A quick google search told me that in real life, the mane and tail are generally unaffected by the varnish, and I suggest that also be the case in this game, with perhaps a slight lightening of the hair, but not to this extent. I hope this might be considered for the update.

We can breed-for a lot of these types of color genes. Although I don't pay much attention to the varnishing of the manes and tails... let's see if my leopard tarpan project can prove something different...Emiisheartless2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 4:41 pm Hello everyone! This one's not a great example, but there's still color in the mane at 5 years: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1141978
This one's a slightly better example that still has mane color at 5 years: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/895574
Considering I bred that one's sire to an AC arab (and looking quickly through part of the pedigree without further obvious indications), it could be the genes to breed-for less varnishing in the manes and tails (or a longer period of time before it starts) could be carried by the arabs.
I didn't immediately find any other obvious ones in my living project horses or their pedigrees, but I certainly could've missed one.

Oh, wow. This game just keeps surprising me with how much we can actually adjust the horses to our liking. It is absolutely incredible! I guess I’ll just have to keep track of the varnish a bit better and see if I can breed for less varnishing. These are some of my first horses with LP so I’m really excited to learn more about these fascinating set of genes!BlackOak2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:15 pm

You're tackling quite a project! It's not difficult overall, but it can be frustrating. Good Luck!Emiisheartless2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:22 pmOh, wow.
