Re: Why do people ask to rehome a foal from their private studs?
I do agree that maybe every foal bred to a private stallion "illegally" doesn't have to be rehomed. I actually ran into this situation not that long ago where someone bred to one of my private stallions that I had discounted for another player. When I pinged her, she mentioned that her younger sister was the one who used my stud. I told her I'd be fine with her keeping the stud because she, the owner of the account, wasn't even the one who misused the stallion. I feel like this one of the many ways this can get sticky.UltimateHonse2 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:20 amI see, I don’t have an alt account and don’t do things like sharing horses for safety, many other games are full of people who will abuse that trust so I’m a little paranoid. That paranoia also means that putting a private stud on the market is a risky idea in my eyes and if you do it you e got to be ok with loose ends, yes you can and should send warning pings of please don’t use my horse again but for the average player a foal takes a lot of turns and they probably won’t/wont want to rehome it. Also, people who simply don’t care exist and will abuse your stud as such sadly. I hope HWO makes this simpler in the future such as getting the approved mares only button to work and maybe creating a list to auto accept certain maresEmily_the_Equestrian wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 6:50 am
I noticed that too, but when you actually try to use the approved mares only button it doesn't work. My guess is that they haven't activated that feature yet?
Yes, I do think that setting the stud fee extremely high would be a better defense. I think out of convenience owners like to have the stud fee at an already low price so they can breed on demand with their alt accounts, and if they have allowed a breeding partner access to the stud they don't have to ask to have the fee lowered before breeding.
I also do understand that players can invest a lot of time and effort into the foals. I remember when I was first starting out, I would literally be over there aging my entire herd just to pop one pregnant mare.

For a lot of people who aren't breeders, this is a reality though. They may be aging all of their stock just to get one or two foals.
Yeah, right now it can get kind of complicated without that approved mares button so it would be nice to have it sooner than later. It would be the real remedy to this issue.

Re: Why do people ask to rehome a foal from their private studs?
yeah it's common to see that. I one time put two of my best stallions for stud for 30k for another player, it sais private on the post, but if anyone had bred my horse, I woul let them know pinging them but I wouldn't ask to rehome foals. They payed, so... Also, I prefer to rehome horses between the ages 6yo to 30yo, because I feel weird about rehoming little cute babies lolUltimateHonse2 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:26 am This hasn’t happened to me yet, that I am aware of, but I keep seeing pings of people saying things like “I accidentally put my stallion on the market please rehome the foals when they are born.” Or “You used my private stud rehome the foal when it’s born.”
Um, why???? Is it fair to demand that? How does having another child affect the stallion?? I can’t see how this would be an issue to anyone especially since you have to pay to get your mare bred and wait a ton of turns to get your foal??

It is also not difficult to read the names of studs. We should all have some respect for other players' horses and what they wish to do with them. We all benefit from kindness.

Re: Why do people ask to rehome a foal from their private studs?
Morgruff meant breeding from two separate accounts. Even I understood that.
But you're also correct, transferring the stallion is the most direct route.
Listen, for anybody still reading this thread. We always suggest to put the stud fee into an area that you feel you won't be slighted if somebody breeds to it. And we are all still awaiting the approved broods button. This will let many of us to put our private lines up for stud (and maybe for brood too) and pick and choose the requests for breeding. Many in our community are waiting to do just that so that we can give random newbies, returnees and other accounts access to some rather great competition stock for rather dirt-cheap prices.
Please protect your stock if you don't want it bred. Although much of the community will acknowledge the private studs, not everybody will.
We have a good community here, if we let things start to slip, the community can degenerate into a mass of ugly and hostile degenerates that only know how to take, cheat, steal and lash out. And if things get unruly, admin will step in and start muting or kicking bunches of players.
We, the community, built it into the way it is today. It takes all of us to keep it thriving.

Yeah same. And you priced your horse so you’d get your good money if someone did accidentally breed to him which if you’re gonna have a private stud is a good thing I think.PinkSoul_Horses wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:39 pmyeah it's common to see that. Yes I hope we get it soon. And as a player with a normal account literally working on a breeding project it’s hard! I’m balancing between making a name for my farm with competitions and aging/getting the goals I need. I’d be super bummed if someone pinged me telling me to rehome a foalEmily_the_Equestrian wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 3:41 pmI do agree that maybe every foal bred to a private stallion "illegally" doesn't have to be rehomed.
