Do the player courses have to be so long?
I just started a new horse ownership course, and it's 3 hours 48 minutes in total. Is there any particular reason why the player courses are so long (they get longer as you study more), or could they possibly be shorter?

You can shorten their time by putting points on the profile attributes:
Intelligence [9/20]
Charisma [5/20]
Patience [20/20]
Dexterity [20/20]
Determination [20/20]
Perception [20/20]
That's my list. Some of them can shorten your learning time by more than half as you build them up. Just take a look at what the attributes affect:
Intelligence: Mostly used for veterinary related skills and some breeding skills.
Charisma: Mostly used for management type skills which allow you to host more events, and craft more vet and farrier service tickets.
Patience: Used for many skills primary training related and some breeding and crafting related skills.
Dexterity: Primarily used for speed and agility type training, occasionally used for shoe crafting.
Determination: Primarily used for some movement, balance and strength training, also occasionally used for stallion handling and some vet related skills.
Perception: Used for many different skills including training,, horse ownership and vet related skills.
As far as why they're so long... to mirror reality? maybe? The horse training lessons are by far the longest.

Re: Do the player courses have to be so long?
Thanks! I've put 11 points on perception, and 8 points on dexterity so far; are the points only for completing a level? When I complete a level, I only receive one point; perhaps there could be more points allocated?

HWO is a game designed to be played for years. Some things will take a long time. That isn't to say we can't look at the courses and re-balance things.

If I remember correctly, we were told at one point that the points will affect 'things we do' (or maybe I read it somewhere). So I'd always assumed they'll eventually affect much more than just our learning and our hard player skills. For example, I assumed that when our training release comes to us (the per-discipline version which will be on top of basic training) that our points in certain areas will give better results to training or more often better results or something to that effect.

I've just seen that the next horse ownership course, 4 Intermediate Horse Management II, is 5 hours 4 minutes long!!!
Even if you study for that length of time, you can still only have two extra horses; breeding can easily take up those two extra horse spaces in a single afternoon's play.

... yeah...

They don't get shorter as you go along, just longer.

That’s really not that bad. It’s going on in the background; youre not have to actively do anything to complete courses. Just run them while you’re asleep. I’m finishing up the last couple courses on my spare (because I’d forgotten I had not completed them all years ago) and my current course is 6.5 days long /shrugAquila wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 4:22 pm I've just seen that the next horse ownership course, 4 Intermediate Horse Management II, is 5 hours 4 minutes long!!!![]()
