Creating racers
Hi guys,
I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to horses, but I love them and since I can't keep them in real life, I've got to resort to the virtual ones. So anyway, I'm interested in going down the field of horse racing. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on creating racing horses.
I know certain breeds like the thoroughbreds are supposed to be inclined to be better at racing, but I was wondering if breed mattered, or does the horse's natural talent have a higher weightage? Does breed matter? What are your thoughts, would be interested in hearing them.

Re: Creating racers
Breed has nothing to do with it in this game - it all depends on conformation, training, temperament, breeder's report and genetic potential.regz46 wrote:Hi guys,

Most of my horses, for example, are bred specifically for racing. If you want to look at them, they'll be everywhere with horses in them but the training and Boerperd paddocks.

Thanks Malakai10! That's great to know. I've been having a fair amount of success with my Caspian x Arabian cross.

Re: Creating racers
I just looked at him, he's too uphill for racing - try him with cross country or showjumping.regz46 wrote:Thanks Malakai10! That's great to know. I've been having a fair amount of success with my Caspian x Arabian cross.
An ideal horse for racing looks something like this:

Re: Creating racers
What do you guys mean when you say uphill?

Re: Creating racers
First one is uphill; the second is downhill:regz46 wrote:What do you guys mean when you say uphill?

Re: Creating racers
Oh I see. SO being uphill or downhill affects the performance?

Re: Creating racers
Yes, it's part of the conformation of the horse, so it affects it a lot.regz46 wrote:Oh I see. SO being uphill or downhill affects the performance?
