Black Forest Horse?
I have this adoption center stallion https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4539658 that appears to be black based (to the eye). I'm going to do some test breedings at some point with him, but to my understanding forest horses from the AC are AA and then any combination on the E allele. Is he just a super dark bay or maybe he is sooty as well?

Forest horses from the AC can be black. You have a grullo, black with dun. What Color is My Horse? Quick Guide by Ancient Breed isn't completely correct for all of the breeds, unfortunately. What's there is correct, but there are a few colors for some of the breeds that also appear. Another one is brown for caspians.RoyalCrownAcres wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 3:25 pm I have this adoption center stallion https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4539658 that appears to be black based (to the eye).
