Re: What Color?
It's all verified by Larissa that that's how it works here, even if that's not how it works IRL. I wasn't convinced, either, until Frost demonstrated it for me.BlackOak2 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:49 pm As far as I'm aware, sooty doesn't turn the horses hair black but gives them a darker shade of what the hair already is... but... I suppose it could be possible. I just aged out an entire line of black chestnuts and had just started to breed in flaxen to them. They didn't have any silver that I was aware of... but it would've been an interesting trial.
Next time I produce those black chestnuts (because I do intend to do that project) I'll give you and others a heads-up and let people snatch some that might be interested in using them for a test with silver.
But for that horse Stellar Tango, I still think that's flaxen and not silver. Especially since the sooty is on the legs and is not anywhere near the rump or the neck. Plus, silver is supposed to turn black hair silver and not black hair red.
With the upcoming release, I'd question it, but with our current models... I'm not convinced.Well, yet.

Here is the quote:

From everything I've seen, the horse in question is definitely silver and not flaxen.
And here is a true flaxen for comparison:
And a side-by-side:
Flaxen | Silver |
This TB family is also a great example of silver on chestnut. Notice that once you get back past the first silver ancestor, the "flaxen" vanishes. There are also several "flaxen" TBs in the pedigree whose only non-red offspring all have silver, despite the other parent not having it. (Pink Diamond is a good starting point.)
But honestly - the best way to be sure is to breed the supposed "flaxen" to a chestnut AC horse from a breed that doesn't have flaxen. If the baby pops up "flaxen," you know you're dealing with silver.

Re: What Color?
This brings up another problem then. Some of our AC horses have both types of these flaxens, rather flaxen and silver. There are a number of belgians that come to mind. And then there's forests and arabs. Although usually we could write them off... now I'm questioning them again.Silverine wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:12 amIt's all verified by Larissa that that's how it works here, even if that's not how it works IRL. We may actually need admin to tell us straight which AC horses do not have silver and which ones do.

The only AC horses that carry silver are Shetlands and NABs.BlackOak2 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:20 pm

Also, with the coming art update it will be a lot easier to tell silver from flaxen when it comes to chestnuts.

Just bay roan tobiano. Pangere is pretty obvious most of the time- he doesn't have it.t0xickitten2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:20 pm |DEV| STELLAR CODE

Re: What Color?
Twice the Stars: Silver Smoky Grulla - black + dun + silver + 1x cream. She also has two copies of tiger eye. That plus the cream give her blue eyes. Without the cream they would be a shade of green. With the cream but without the tiger eye they would be the normal brown.
Twice the Light: Smoky Brown Dun - brown + dun + 1x cream. Carries one copy of tiger eye, as shown through his daughter. (One copy doesn't have a visible effect if the horse is not champagne.)
Twice Lit: Same as Twice the Light, likely without the tiger eye. Neither of his parents has visible tiger eye, but Twice the Light's dam, Code of the Celestial Hive, has a parent with visible tiger eye (her sire, BeeWin) which means she has to carry it.
