RCA Project Lineage

Royal Crown Acres
Project Lineage

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of cobby horses and thick feather, hence my account mostly focusing on breeding Irish Cob/Vanner horses (mostly geared towards dressage). This line of thinking extends into the real world, where I'm a huge fan of Vanners and hope to eventually have one or two of my own.
Something else I'm a big fan of, though, is Appaloosa horses. I've met a few in person and absolutely adore their interesting colors and patterns (being the beginning spark for a love of genetics that is leading my academic career) and more than that I've fallen in love with their attitude and work ethic. Appaloosas are actually what got me interested in leaning away from the world of Equitation and Jumping and lower level dressage, and I quite enjoy having a "jack of all trades" mentality.

In the digital scape of HWO, I mostly breed dressage focused vanners and I typically have a side project or two going at the same time that usually entails me playing with colors or conformation. A few years ago, I started heavily playing with breed creation and the leopard genes on a side account, and recently decided Why not breed my own lines from scratch?.

My founding line of Vanners came from QuestHavenFarms, and I've put in outside stock and a few crosses here and there, but the COI is re-donk-ulously high and the conformation for most of the split lines I've created from QHF has become near stagnant and is predictable to a fault. I have some promising "new blood", but wouldn't completely new blood be best? A small part of me also wants to regear my vanner project to focus on a different discipline. Western Pleasure or trail? Or perhaps Obstacle driving? I'm not sure yet.

In the same vein, I want to have my own appaloosa line so that I can develop the build and conformation that real appaloosas typically have. Most appaloosas in the game (from what I noticed when first looking into this 2/3 months ago) are squat and fat and not very characteristic of a true working appaloosa. A lot of the ones with better builds have off patterns, like tobiano or are solid and don't seem to carry Lp. (although that was a narrow look at the market that this is based off of). Either way, I think this would be a fun challenge! Especially with the art rework coming up!

I created these pedigree templates:

That I'm hoping to use a guide for the project. I've decided to work on the vanners on my main account (this one, RoyalCrownAcres) and the appaloosas on my side account (RoyalCrownAcresOther) to try and keep things a little more organized. I'm going to do my absolute best to use adoption center stock, from both the AC itself and the market, maybe throwing in a well bred arab or TB along the way to try and boost conformation and build if the owning player is okay with it, but my goal is to be as from-scratch as possible.

Now, I start hunting for the first groups of horses for the project, and hopefully get foals on the way by tomorrow morning!! I'm going to be using some guides on breed creation for some assistance, but if anyone has any tips or tricks or feedback along the way, Please let me know!!

NOTE: I have reply notifications on, please don't quote this specific post as it is just long enough to be annoying if quoted :P :)

I was going to try my best to keep the startings of the project AC lines, but that's rather difficult to do with arabians! I was hoping to not have to use PT because I'm currently hoarding them, but I do plan on grabbing a couple of stallions from the AC. As of now, I've bought a ton of arab mares from the market. I stayed away from red stats, and most of them are AC stock or a generation or two away from it. I'm going to breed them to stallions that are from the AC or descending from AC parents and am going to try my best to keep away from red stats. Because so many breeds require arabians, I'm going to have a few distinct pastures of arabs to use throughout the project. COI will definitely grow as I move along the pedigree, but I'm going to try and keep it as low as possible. But for now arab time!
