Horse World Online Birthday Celebration Week 3!

It's the third week of our 20th birthday celebrations and we've got more gifts for everyone!

This week we wanted to reminisce about our old horse artwork and share how far we’ve progressed since the game first launched 20 years ago.

We’ve seen a few major artwork updates over the years and experimented with a few techniques that never ended up being used. Our first horses were simple line drawings, with 10 different “base” horses, and the only the colours/markings changed on the artwork. Eventually we moved on to using Macromedia/Adobe Flash and updated the artwork to use line drawings with some simple detail shading. We even experimented with 3D horses using Macromedia Director but unfortunately Director was a short-lived product, and the 3D horses never actually made it into the game.

Then in 2014 we re-launched the game using our dynamic conformation horses. No longer did we need to maintain 10 different base horses, now all the horses could be created using just one base. We’re really looking forward to the new updated artwork we’re planning to launch for 2025, what amazing changes we’ve seen over our 20-year history.

What’s a birthday celebration without gifts? We’ve got gifts for everyone! Four weeks of gifts are planned with a new gift released on Fridays throughout the month of November. Anyway, I can see this game eventually going that far. And it's a neat image too. Hopefully we'll be alive to see it possible (if not actually happen).
