What color are my horses? / best competition?

Post by Grishaividma »

Anyone want to color my horses and also if you have any suggestions on what competitions I should enter please let me know! I currently have them in driving competitions but I am curious to enter them into others. Any recommendations?

First, these big guys are built for logging. Although that's a tough discipline, that would be the first thing I'd give them a go in. Obstacle and Marathon are the next two disciplines and it does look like (as you've said) some of your horses, at least, are in those disciplines. Next on your list would be Western disciplines. Although they're too heavy for it, some of these big guys do alright over there. You'll be aiming toward reining, trail and ranch, primarily. If you can get a more medium or medium heavy build (toward horse), you might be able to pull off barrels, cutting or pleasure.

Custom the Cadence - flaxen chestnut with blanket
Dusted Voodoo - brown dun roan pangare
Eternal Sorbet - chestnut roan pangare
Eternal Brandy - blue roan with snowflakes
Sorbet Sensation - blue roan
Eternal Life - flaxen chestnut roan with snowflakes
Sleeping Sensation - blue roan with snowflakes
Sleeping Boy The Eternal - blue roan with blanket
Golden Wolf - silver buckskin roan pangare
The Eternal Knight - blue roan with snowflakes
Dream Life - I'm not certain, this is either red or bay. That mane is too bright in my opinion for silver, so I'm settling on red. Flaxen gold cream pangare blanket.
Sleeping Sorbet The Sensational - flaxen chestnut roan pangare with snowflakes
My Eternity For Hire - flaxen chestnut roan pangare with snowflakes
Bet and Crisis - probably chestnut roan pangare with snowflakes
Sleeping Voodoo - bay (unknown other)
Custom Life - likely flaxen chestnut blanket

I know the horses I have colored myself are incorrect.

It takes some practice and patience to get the colors down. Start simply, like identifying black from red, add in agouti (brown, bay and wild bay) and then from there head to gray and cream. Wait for your triple dilutes (champagne paired with two creams, two pearls or cream and pearl) until after you're sure about the basic colors and the basic dilutes.

But you'll get there if you try. 8-)
