Re: Pink horses
I'd wouldn't mind. I'm actually about to make a barn for pairs of horses that have created new pink lines, so they'd be stored away with their son.
I've actually fallen back into my pink horse obsession already but I'll definitely add that to my list of things to look into.

SS Pink

Re: Pink horses
That's amazing... haven't seen a pink shetland yet! Pretty sure this line gets the really-bright-red from the belgian side of the family, since the only other options are przewalski and tarpan... and I was going to say that I've seen przewalski hide some pretty darn bright red under their dun, but I realized the guy I'm thinking of was also part belgian, so nevermind!Shadow Scar wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:06 pm I've actually fallen back into my pink horse obsession already but I'll definitely add that to my list of things to look into.I've done a big pull of AC Belgian, Przewalski, Shetland, Tarpans and Forest horses to do mass crossing to find the culprit for the pink color.

I already put Fancy Doubts up for bid, and it won't let me put another one up for private sale at the same time, so I'll put the other guy up once she's out of here.
And thanks again for this. They're such cool horses and I wish I could be playing with the pink experiments as well, so I'll just live vicariously through you for now.

Re: Pink horses
Shetlands seem to hide a ton of hard to find genes.

If you ever decided to start up your own experiments just let me know and I'll list your line for you to take back. There's no telling how long they'll be setting in my freezer account for.

Re: Pink horses
Haha, sure thing. And any updates you feel like sharing as you go, you'll at least have one avid audience member excited to know how it's going.Shadow Scar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:55 am If you ever decided to start up your own experiments just let me know and I'll list your line for you to take back. Re: Pink horses
I want a pink horse idk if I have any but maybe when I get room I'll see about getting a pink horse

Re: Pink horses
Hey, don't know if this guy's genes play into the various things you're doing, but I had another weirdly pale foal show up, except this one is in cool tones instead of pink.
Let me know if you're interested in him! He doesn't work for my breeding project (unlike this pink Exmoor girl who I will be keeping around because I can't help myself,) but he seems too cool to just rehome, you know?

Re: Pink horses
Ha! I hear you there. Speaking of the brown Exmoors, since I'm working on the same thing and I think you work much faster than I do, if there's a type of stud that would help you along or would add genetic diversity, let me know. If I have it, I'll put him up for stud.Shadow Scar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 7:39 am Huh, that is really strange. Unfortunately I'm more or less maxed out in storage while I'm working on the seal brown Exmoors. That little filly is gorgeous though! I definitely see why your keeping her.

Re: Pink horses
Sorry for the late reply. Looks like the Exmoor project has ended so I'll probably be moving on the my Turkmenes and eventually the West African Barb. If your looking to stick with the Exmoors though I have all of my seal brown and carriers listed so your more than welcome to them.stickers wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 1:03 pmHa! I hear you there. If you decide to take part in the WAB project let me know! I'll probably be making the first initial crosses and then storing them. But I'd love to have someone to work with on these

Re: Pink horses
This farm's main focus will remain Exmoors I think (unless I've burned myself out on them. Haven't decided yet, haha) and I'm still trying to decide if I want to make the push for WAB. In either case, there is a chance I'll be grabbing some of those browns and carriers once I clear some room.Shadow Scar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 7:16 pm Sorry for the late reply.
