The Pure_Breeding Farm Horse Colours (Help Me Please!)

Post by Pure_Breeding »

I've just created a topic for this just so I don't have to reply to other peoples!

I just have a couple of horse's I'm curious about for their colours. If whoever answers, if they couldn't mind giving me the little letter symbol things at the same too? That would be really helpful!

Peach: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4173029

Summer: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4150146

Sammy: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3945086

Beefy: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3781417

Cheesecake: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4132164

Thank you so much!

Your title has nothing about what you're asking for. Even though it's in the color forum, some of us only look at unread topics, which means that your title has gotten overlooked by at least myself.

Apologies for that.

Here are your colors and the gene string on those colors, insofar as the horse itself (I don't regularly look far back in histories or forward in progeny for things outside of confirmation of a suspected gene expression).

Peach appears to be a cream & pearl double dilute on bay with tobiano and Lp. This would make him a Buckskin Pearl Tobiano Blanket, or something to that end. Your string will be something like: E/e A/? Cr/prl To/? Lp/lp

Summer is a chestnut blanket. e/e Lp/lp

As an aside, tiger eye is green and hazel eyes. If the eyes are different than brown and NOT a double dilute, you'll be looking at a pair of tiger eye genes, Tg/Tg. When paired with champagne, the freckling on the nose and eyes, it will show even a single tiger eye, Tg/tg. Those are the bare basics on tiger eye.

Sammy is a palomino fewspot (fewspot is my choice for calling these, others may call them slightly differently). e/e (chestnut base), Cr/-, Lp/Lp. In the string Cr/- ... this hyphen - means NOT that you don't know what that gene is, BUT that the horse does not carry anything in that second spot. It's a 'negative factor for cream or pearl' in that second spot. In some cases, lower case is used and in some cases the hyphen (for negative) is used. On the game, it's mostly preference. I will use both, so I don't confuse myself with something like: Cr/cr and think that I have a double dilute horse and that I made a mistake.

Beefy is a bay dun roan blanket. Her string would look something like: E/? A/? D/? Rn/rn Lp/lp

Cheesecake is a chestnut near-full leopard (or near leopard, again, these are my preferences, some others may call them differently). Her string might look something like: e/e Lp/lp.

Musk is a little young for a color identification just yet. But from what I can make sense of, she appears to be a chestnut base, double dilute. She may have silver hidden (both parents have silver but it doesn't show up on a chestnut base). It also appears she missed the gray. So at this point, I'd call her a cremello. It also looks like she missed her dame's roan. Her known string will be e/e Cr/Cr.

Oh I'm so sorry for that! I'll make sure to fix it up right away, I clearly wasn't thinking about what I was doing :? .
But thank you so much for checking it anyway! You are so helpful, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to do this, not only for me but for other people too. This will really help me with future breeding!

I have a few more new horses that I am curious to know the colours of. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Winter: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4203900

Belle: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4081412

Eclipse: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4189139

Niall: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4188936

Toasty: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4199238 (I took a guess with this one already, so it probably isn't right)

Thank you so much!

Taking guesses is a good thing. If you try to guess first and we can look at your answers, we can help steer you to what you're not seeing or otherwise. This helps to hone your skill.

:D

Winter is chestnut fewspot. Doesn't appear either parent has any oddball genes to pass on. In fact, he even missed on on his sire's roan.

Belle appears to be a black snowcap. Since she doesn't appear to be a creamed black (I'm on a different PC, so some of the colors look a little different), she must've inherited her dame's pearl gene.

Eclipse is a little harder to distinguish. Chestnut with roan. She may need to be revisited when she blows her foal coat.

Niall appears to be a smoky silver roan (black coat).

And finally, Toasty appears to be brown. Your color guess is correct. Unfortunately, there is no way (yet) to guarantee whether a horse is E/E or E/e. We can only tell if a horse is E/e if the horse ever throws a chestnut foal.

Wow thank you so much! Toasty was pretty easy to guess, I tried using the colour guide but it was very difficult with the others. I guess I'll have to keep relying on you for a little bit :D

No problems! :D Either I or another will keep steering you right. And you'll start picking up on it. It's all about training the eye anyway.
