Competition Update is Live!

Our new competition update is live!

Early this afternoon we officially switched over to the new competition update. Make sure and read our previous post with all the details on what has been changed, and in you run into any bugs please let us know so we can get them fixed up.

Tomorrow morning we'll hand out trophies to the top 3 spots in our previous rankings leaderboard.

Late Addition: We have decided to remove the one-entry limit on the following events: Endurance, Harness Racing, Racing, Saddleseat, Sprint Racing, Steeplechasing and Western Pleasure. You can now enter unlimited horses in these events. Eventually we may re-visit this decision as we had unfinished plans related to this, but it'll likely be a while before we come back to this. So, enjoy and have fun entering these competitions!

I have noticed that when I am on the old layout, all of the competitions that I have entered my horses in doesn't come up anymore. Like, you know the part just under the breeder's report in the old layout? It just comes up as blank bars. I would try and post a photo of it, but I'm not sure how to .
It's all good if the reason for this is just because it is undergoing changes, but I thought I would still just bring it to your attention in case it wasn't!

The old layout is no longer receiving updates. You are free to use the old layout for the time being but at some point it will be removed. We are still working on the new layout and would love to hear feedback if there is anything we can change to make it work better for you!

Oh okay! Thank you for letting me know! I have tried the new layout a couple of times and one slight fix up (that really isn't a big deal) is that some of the information is cut out on the screen. Like you have to go full screen to see it. I mean, again, its not a big deal, but I thought I should just mention it just in case.
Also, I have noticed that when I'm trying to take a picture of one of my horses and I move the blue bar at the top to make it bigger, it zooms out instead. Apart from these very minor things, you guys are really doing an amazing job!

Is anyone else getting empty last pages when filtering and entering competitions (on the new layout)? For instance, it says there are 4 pages after filtering to $20 entries, but clicking that 4th page takes me to a blank list.

Might be worth considering tying entry fee to added purse. There are a lot of shows with very high entry fees a low/no added purse. Obviously the responsibility of the entrant to check prices, but also could be beneficial to discourage this behavior

It might be a good idea to limit the amount of points you can win in each level to discourage the cheating where one player is entering 100+ untrained horses and 1 trained horse in a competition they have created for themselves only, just to boost their own place in the rankings.

Addition: Also to remove the auto-run of non-recurring competitions when 20+ horses have been entered. This makes it very easy for people to cheat and create fast and easy earned points for themselves in order to get to the top rankings without actually competing against other players' horses.

I’ve already suggested “Fun”/no point shows for those of us who only use shows to test horses to select breeding stock while waiting for discipline books to arrive, but it would also eliminate the cheating situation you’ve mentioned. Extending the auto-run timeframe has already been discussed, but probably less relevant with the competition limits in place now.

Also might be interesting to tie titles to the level of competition a horse qualifies for and/or has points in. Like, you can only earn a SMGCh title on a horse with enough PPS to qualify for level 10 shows (maybe even only from points earned in level 10 shows), all the way down to horses with PPS for level 4 and below only qualifying for a Champion title.

Yeah. My suggestions were more comprehensive and geared toward universally leveling the playing field while also providing varied gameplay options based on what folks are already showing a need for.
