Pink Stallion

Post by Soleil »

I made a post like this about a year back, and here he is all grown up! I know there's no such thing irl as a pink gene, so I think this specific coloration turns out really cute in-game. I really love his bright expression of the particular pink coloration, I think someone said it was a mix of pangare or dun?

I told someone I'd let them stud to him once he was all trained, so I'll put him up if anyone shows interest in breeding to him.

Also to the HWO color experts, how would I be able to bring about this color again? I've been looking for a 'pink' mare on market to breed to this lovely man, to no avail. If anyone could describe the genes behind the 'pink' color I'd appreciate it.

Ahh, I see! Thanks :D So assuming I read your post correctly, 'pink' is due to either dun or pangare? And it can also be affected by Lp. I feel like I remember you saying (or rather, typing?) that there'd be a guide to 'pink' horses of yours one day. . . looking forward to it.

To a lesser extent, you can get pink-ish horses from dun or pangare alone. Pangare is better at it than dun, singularly. When you see those like yours, it's most likely BOTH dun and pangare.

I did do a study on pangare? And tried to hunt down the genes responsible for the maximum and strong expression for the pink (the one side of the dun and pangare pink). However, I couldn't find it from the AC breeds I had been using. I came to the conclusion that it's likely shetlands that are hiding the maximum, strongest expression of the pangare.

But the study came out nice in the end anyway.
A Study In Dilution: The Pangare Gene (aka Mealy)

Also has a number of find-me suggestions for getting some of the specific genes if you're hunting for certain types of pangare.

And yes, I probably was the one that said that before. ;)

Ah! I'm so glad you gave picture examples, really helps  On my way to try to breed the psuedo-pink into my herd. Was curious if https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4203375 is some form of pangare chestnut like in the guide? And here's their offspring: I'm unsure whether he carries the psuedo-pink gene or not.

Goodness I absolutely love his color. I'd definitely love to pair him with my Pink mare and see what comes out! I've been looking for a pink stud as well since she was the only one that her parents produced.

Yes, I'm of the mindset that Holy! Pink is chestnut pangare and lacks the dun gene, so she is just about as strongly and as pink-ish that you can get with just the pangare gene on a chestnut base.

The foal appears to be the pangare and dun type. Should come out as light as daddy.

Thanks! It's too bad Holy! Pink doesn't have the dun gene, but at least the foal is cute. I look forward to seeing his color >:)

Wahh she's so pretty! The foal turned out really adorable, but I feel bad because if I'd known you'd breed to him I wouldn't have set the stud fee so high
