Names of head patterns?
Apologies if this has been asked before!
Is there a guide for the proper names of the different types of head and neck patterns? Here is an example of a filly - my instinct would be to call her an appaloosa with a cape of some sort. Or is this just a type of tobiano?

Without getting too into the controversies of 'appaloosa' and 'pintaloosa'... we don't use patterning names for the horses (usually or extensively). Some would call your horse a pintaloosa others would call it a leopard tobiano. Blanketed tobiano or tobiano fewspot... tobiano snowcap...MysticDaphne wrote:Apologies if this has been asked before!

What it comes down to is that you should use something uniform across your farm that tells you what it is without much head-scratching.
