Interested? PT & Turn Grinder Line Anybody?

Post by Gabby_Woodlark »

Okay, so this is going out to people I know well. Friends, acquaintances, even people in the RBRC group I helped make (I'm trying to find the trustworthy peeps lol).

Anyway, as some of you may know, I have a high HGP TB grinder line going. So far all offspring have been perfect when it comes to turns and PT. I still haven't run out of turns the whole 12 years I've had my grinder. My PT has upped 100 since I trained her so there's definite potential.

I was wondering, if I would sell off my line (Considering people would keep their word about not breeding them at all due to being afraid of my line being completely copied and stolen), how much money I could get for them. I can easily train the foals, and the adults probably still have good grinder potential even if they aren't trained.

They do well in both level 10 Endurance and Racing, earning 1st-2nds all the time. Along with a good supply of turns as well as PT.

Though, if I were to sell them, the buyer would have to pinky-promise-swearinoes that they wouldn't breed my line at all. I have worked already countless months on this line so it is extremely valuable to me especially since it goes way back to my favorite TB ever. If I have found you popped a mare (You can keep her pregnant to preserve her age but you must re-home the foals), or bred to a stallion in my line, you will be blacklisted from both mine as well as my close friends' sales, studdings, training, champing, etc. I will make sure that the line will not be spread throughout HWO to those who would copy it and claim it as their own. (I know, I know, once a horse is sold it isn't mine and the owner can do whatever, but that isn't stopping me from installing restrictions. )

So... Yeah.

To put it in a nutshell:

Might be selling off my valuable grinder stock to trustworthy people and am looking for possible price ranges

Hello!

I don't think I've done any direct work with you here on HWO Gabby, but I've seen you around here and there online at HWO :D

Anywho, as a side to whatever project I've got going I generally keep a reasonable grinder line going.. albeit quite slow, so I don't often sell to the public. (Mainly to feed my own needs) Different to what you have, my horses are mostly Arabians, with a few scattered TB and mixed in there. They grind at lvl 10 endurance, and majority of them are consistent and good competitors and keep you in days for a good long while.

I havent done a lot of neat research, but I have calculated some figures that a good grinder will earn you from, well, grinding and the results are surprisingly high. Lucky for us, BlackOak has recently created a comprehensive grinder guide that proves such a thesis without us having to guestimate... viewtopic.php?f=12&t=39959

Last time I sold my grinders for approx 100K each, and I used that simply because when I outsourced training, it cost 75K. for those average grinders, I sold at 80K.. But I honestly think that they are worth a lot more than that.

ie a random grinder that I recorded over 15 years of service got the following results:
$262,324 earned (+plus what was used on entry fees)
169 PT (plus days)
45,697 experience.

It could have been an exceptionally rare and very good grinder, or it could be standard among my lines, I don't know.... But I think a good grinder, especially if someone can comp them as well, is more likely to be worth 200K than 100... Just my opinion, its up to you.

ps - Ive been planning to sell a lot of grinders off myself for a while, but training them is taking longer than expected as per usual... two things. First, for myself, after they are finished 'training' I 'test' the horses over a couple of days by grinding them and recording the results, this gives an indication of what horse will do well and what wont.. of course I dont understand the HWO algorithm and they have moments of great and poor performance, so I never really can tell... Second, without most of my horses being trained, I was thinking of selling them in the range of ~150K.. but thats just me and thats without my horses being ready to sell yet, so could change...

hope that ramble helps somewhat..

Oh, believe me, it does help. :)

I think the problem is that many people can't just test the grinder out for themselves to see its true potential, so they just guess and probably don't pick up random horses at 150k, thinking it's an outrageous price. I for sure would sell mine around 200k because of their earnings and potential in level 10 shows, but people don't know if it's the truth or not, as they can't just borrow a grinder. It's all about trust. The owner has to trust the borrower to only test out the grinder and not keep it. The borrower has to trust the owner to take back the horse if it has a bad score. Both have to trust each other in order for borrowing to work. \_0_/

I was thinking I could start selling them at around 20k, so newbies can afford them, then if they start getting mass-bought because of potential, I'll slowly raise the prices until they are at what they are worth. Grinders, good or bad, can easily earn at least 100k throughout their lifetime, so anything under that is a bargain.

I also need to get rid of most of my herd since I already have about 4 pastures worth of grinders I have bought and tested, and I'm buying more each time I see a good one. I need to stop hoarding the guys, but I also need them since I go through about 4 HWO each day.

I would like a horse for turns and PT. I sometimes absolutely hate starting new projects, because I am always afraid that I was to breed a horse that somebody else didn't want me too :?. Anyways I would love for one of these horses, since I am trying to kick up my training business (That will probably be here around August, September, possibly October era?).

Hey Gabby, this is Hannah771, and I've been looking for a grinder for a while so that I can get Premium. Are you still selling any?

As I stated in my post, I might be selling some of my valuable grinder line. I gave one to Iris Rock Stables for now because I know she needed one and I can ask her for feedback once he retires. Right now, though, I have some extra grinders scattered around on my GabbysPets account if you want to look there in the meantime.

Okay... So would anyone be interested if I didn't require you to not breed them?
