Pictures of your non-pixel ponies

Post by Nate »

My dude https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 9276_o.jpg Whom I strongly wish to move up here. Alas, I need a real job.

And his dam, a very boofy mare: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 40e3062c89

Both my horses are in my parents pasture right now, being fatties and doing absolutely nothing. I just moved to CA (again lol, second time in 3 years) and Im saving to be able to bring them out with me. But, here are older pics, I have nothing recent online right now.

Okay, he's not really demonic... This is Guy, he's my baby. Ive had him for 13 years now, he was 5 years and newly started in the bottom most pic, and 9 years in the top two. I had him started by someone for 6 weeks and have done everything else myself with him. He has taught me more than any other horse I've been around, he's a saint and a retired demon all wrapped up in a neat little 14.3hh package.

My Thoroughbred is on Facebook, but I can't link the pics here... Ill show him off someday :) But, as a background, he is incredibly fast, won a couple decent races before being injured (nothing graded). Now he's a trail horse. He is incredibly intelligent. He's absolutely bombproof. He can be a major pill when he sets his mind that way. Remnants of his injury, he has days where it acts up a bit and he can't canter comfortably on the right lead. And man he won't be too shy to let you know about it (I learned that before I knew of his injury). We almost entirely stick to trot and on down, except on really good days. I call him Yoshi, he reminds me of the bouncy little green guy in Mario.

Des, your demon pony is very adorable! I like his colored knees.

I got my dude, shown above, from a rescue when he was two. He'd been to several other potential adopters, all of which returned him to the rescue for one reason or another. Usually because they couldn't catch him or because he wasn't trained enough for them. When I got him he could lead, do feet, trailer, and be roundpenned poorly.

I'm pretty decent with the groundwork so I did all that myself, but my riding is a little timid. I had some help starting him but not a whole lot. I should have sent him to a trainer for a few weeks like you did yours! He's staying with a friend down in southern California now. I don't have the employment stability to ship him up here and she doesn't have a riding horse between her two mares. My dude suffices for her and he's very rideable now I hear. I am expecting some footage next weekend. He's on rest right now cause the dweeb cracked his hoof.
