At level 9 you earn 18 exp and $176 for winning first place in a level 10 local show.

I'm on Level 10, and for 1st place in Local Shows I receive $176 and 17-18XP (for whatever reason it's 17 one time and 18 the next, then 17 again randomly, even on the same turn. I'm not sure why.)

RoseeDelight, it's possible, maybe, that you're earning 2nd place instead of first? If it is definitely a first place win and bouncing between 17 experience and 18 experience, considering that level 9 is also 18 experience for a level 10 local first place, I'd send it over to the bugs forum for a check-up. You may need to provide image snapshot proof though. Make sure to also note if it's just one discipline or many, or even all of them. Also check the horse too; is it more than just that one?
These things can link it to your account or also locate the root of the bug.
