Recipe overlap - will it be random?
I'd never come across this before, but I just noticed that with a breed I will soon try to work on that the breed evaluations overlap with that of one with the same recipe. For Sumba and Tibetan Pony the only difference in the breed evaluations is the height which overlaps from 12.0-13.0hh.
Anybody come across the same thing before? I would assume that any foal that met 4* for both breeds would have a 50% chance of being the desired breed but I'd like to be sure.

I believe it is random. I don't know the requirements for Faroese Ponies but the recipe is the same for the Icelandic and I once got a Faroese Pony that also rated as perfect for Icelandic.

Speaking about percentage, I'm not sure you can assume that if your parent horses met 4 stars you'll have a 50/50 chance. However, the chance does get MUCH better, that is a fact.Blue Rose Ranch wrote:I'd never come across this before, but I just noticed that with a breed I will soon try to work on that the breed evaluations overlap with that of one with the same recipe. But as Corvus said above, it will be 'random' which one you will get. It's not whichever has a stronger chance, it really is the roll of the die. It may be so much as a yes/no toggle for a new breed and then a flip of the coin for whichever breed it may be.
I too, have had similar outcomes.

No you can't assume, but I was talking about the offspring's evaluation, not the parents, so the chance (theoretically) would be even (I actually have always had better luck with 2 or 3* parents for new breeds but I'm odd like that).BlackOak2 wrote:Speaking about percentage, I'm not sure you can assume that if your parent horses met 4 stars you'll have a 50/50 chance. Thanks both of you. Even with accidental new breeds in the past I'd always found that there was one attribute that was different and for some reason assumed that was always the case. This is the first overlap I've seen in a year or so. Fingers crossed that with a few extra potential parents will offset some unlucky coin tosses
