Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

About the American Warmblood:
The ideal American Warmblood is a conformationally sound, versatile, and competitive individual. A performance horse. The focus of AWSR is to breed top-quality competitors in Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country, Eventing, Driven Dressage, Obstacle Driving, and In-hand competition. AWSR is a strictly merit-based registry meaning that ANY breed of horse can be submitted for recognition but is judged fit for registry based on its merit and how it would apply to performance. Grade horses are accepted. Conformationally speaking the American Warmblood should be an attractive individual, built to excel in English Disciplines. Good structure and general correctness is important, but there is no breed standard of height, conformation, or weight. All AWSR registered and recognized horses should bare the ~AWSR~ brand after their name and farm brand.
Rules:
1. Please be kind and patient with the staff. We have lives and not all of us can be instantaneous in our replies. We care about you and your horses but grading is a carefully thought out process and takes time.
2. No fighting the grading verdict. The grading standard is there for the betterment of the breed, not to hurt your feelings.
3. We are a community and as such kindness, respectful behavior, and helpfulness is expected. Please do not make unkind remarks about others horses, other registries, and other breeding programs.
4. Have fun! This isn't real life and this registry should not feel like a job. There is no pressure to match anyone, you are beholden only to the registry standard and yourself, not to others' expectations.

Grade A
Grade B
Grade C
&
Grade D aka Utilitatrian
Each grade has a list of traits and all traits must match or exceed the requirements or the horse falls into the catagory below.
Grade A:
Grade A horses are the cream of the crop. To be a Grade A the horse must meet very concise standards.
Must have an HGP of 59,000 and above, 6 or more green or gold stats with preference to gold, excellent confo numbers displaying a predisposition towards success in a sport. Optional, but certainly increases chances of an A grading, titles exceeding CH with high win percentages.
Grade B:
Grade B horses are the most common category. Successful and high quality, but not quite the perfection of an A grade, but frequently you get an A grade from a B grade pairing! B Grade horses must meet the following standard. HGP 52,000 and above, 4 plus green or gold stats, quality confo that lends itself to performance.
Grade C:
Grade C is pretty much anything that doesn't make Grade B.Must have HGP 39,000 and above, minimum 1 green stat, NO REDS, Balanced and well-rounded confo.
Grade D :
Grade D is strictly reserved for horses who do not pass the standard of Grade C but have use for any of the following purposes.Recipe horse or reducing COI. You can also provide an explanation for why you want to register a Grade D quality horse and what purpose it will serve in improving your program.
The reason for seeking recognition on a grade D horse is to streamline the registration of qualified offspring from that horse.
Breeding the American Warmblood and Registry Rules:
Breeding the ideal American Warmblood is a journey and not something that happens in a few moments. Registry of breeding stock is the first step.
Stallions must be at least 3 years of age to be graded, and a successful competition record in the recognized disciplines is required to be eligible for the AWSR studbook. The stallion has his lifetime to meet the competition requirements for entry in the studbook. This means that your 22-year-old stallion still has a chance of being a studbook member. <3 No age limits for greatness.
Mares must be at least 4 years of age, or within six months of turning 4, to be graded. A successful competition record is strongly encouraged in broodmares but is by no means required. Mares should be held to an independent standard of excellence, meaning a mare should speak for herself and the quality of her foals. The success of a mares career should be judged on her personal merits, the quality of her foals, and her general production.
This being said it is paramount that careful breeding is in place, a mare can only produce as well as she was bred.
Offspring registration. Once your breeding stock has begun to produce offspring you might have some registration concerns! All foals produced by a mare and stallion, both registered AWSR, are automatically excepted into the registry. A foal claim (Paperwork to claim a foal is below) should be filed any time before the foal reaches breeding age. Grading will take place at that time, making the foal an automatically graded member of AWSR and entitled to the ~AWSR~ brand from birth.
Outcrossing is encouraged! However, foals from one registered AWSR parent and one non-registered parent are NOT automatically graded. Registration application filed and foal will be graded before breeding age.
