Re: Competitions results
Horses in the game don't perform consistently, just like horses in real life. They have off days. Some are more inconsistent than others. If you look carefully, you'll see that in the show you won, your horse scored much better than in the other show, and Alaina's horses score much worse. The combination of those two factors made you win that one. It happens.

Thanks! That would explain why some days my horse http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/583244 can do so well, then flunk on others.Nate wrote:Horses in the game don't perform consistently, just like horses in real life. Re: Competitions results
And what factors regulate this? If horse_1 better, when horse_2 why he can`t win all the time?Nate wrote:Horses in the game don't perform consistently, just like horses in real life. Re: Competitions results
You can't call me a expert, but definitely the training and possibly the Breeders Report. Some body types are more suitable to different things, so I try and enter my horses in things that are suitable for them. And as Nate has said, the horses will always have on and of days, so you can't expect them to always do well.Bombicilla wrote:And what factors regulate this? Re: Competitions results
A lot of the major players suspect there is a "showability" gene that affects show performance. Alaina has observed that some of her horses are much more consistent than others with similar breeder's reports, so its reasonable that there is a separate hidden trait that determines how well a horse does in shows and how consistently it performs. Larissa has always said the best way to breed great show horses is to breed winners to winners and she has been conspicuously silent on the topic of a hidden showability gene. Evidence points to it existing, so I and others have been operating under the presumption that it does exist.
For your example, horse A might have the better raw talent, but horse B has greater showability or work ethic and therefore beats horse A at least some of the time.

Cool! Are the genes bred, or do exist only in certain horses?Nate wrote:A lot of the major players suspect there is a "showability" gene that affects show performance. Thanks, its intresting. I suspected of this gene too, but dont sure about it.Nate wrote:A lot of the major players suspect there is a "showability" gene that affects show performance.
