Guide request???
Can someone make a guide for the recipe traits???
I haven't found a link to a guide explaining it in depth or giving a detailed list like the percentageas of light/medium/heavy and anything in between. It would be great to have on hand for breeding and helping to understand better with the difference between "Horse-Type" and "Pony-Type"
I would make one, but I'm not well versed in it and don't quite understand some of it myself x(

Re: Guide request???
There's no guide because it's fairly obvious? Horse-type animals are leggier; pony-type animals are stouter. And the eval page literally explains what light/medium/heavy is based on.

It's ok if the information isn't out there yet, I understand that some things aren't for players eyes, but I'm interested because I would like to know how each trait in the eval is passed on and calculated.Argent wrote:There's no guide because it's fairly obvious? For example: is height controlled by genes or more of a percentage average between the parents? If it's controlled by genes how many are there and are they dominant or recessive?
It is useful to know this because when setting the 'type' of a horse percentages will be harder to keep steady than genes that you've made dominant in your herd. So it would potentially change how I play the game and read and understand the evaluation

Re: Guide request???
Of course, and obviously not. There are enough posts about unexpectedly tall or short foals from closely matched parents - or vastly different heights between full siblings - to make this pretty clear.Dreamer98 wrote:For example: is height controlled by genes or more of a percentage average between the parents?
Everything in this game is based on genetics, and if you spend any time breeding horses, the functionality becomes clear.

Re: Guide request???
Ah, I breed for grade horses with specific traits and I make up names for them as illegitimate breeds. The leg length confuses me, mainly because to me they seem to be the same thing and there's no define difference to tell me exactly what makes what "pony" or "horse" :/ so I'm confused as to why the leg lengths for "horse" and "pony" can be the same percentage and such....
And it would be nice to know the legitimate range for each body type such as 0%-10% is very light and the like, so I'm really looking for someone that can make a chart for the types and ranges to help people who are grade specific as myself :3

I don't mean to seem "rude" or whatever, but... Could we like... Maybe seem a just tad more civil? I feel like your comments seem a little brash @Argent
... I mean you're probably not at all intending to, but you come off a bit belittling ^^'
I don't play very often, and yes I understand that the "ponies" are stouter and "horses" leggier, but that to me is even a little vague because I have "draft-ish" (considering there's no "draft" specific) looking equine that have long long legs but are labeled a pony type and it's relatively confusing to understand why that is there and it makes it a little more hard since there's no real "chart" to determine if there's an actual difference. If that is just there to say they are horse or pony type determining stalky or slim, then I feel it's a little misleading :/

Re: Guide request???
As Argent already said, it's fairly obvious.
Height - how tall a horse will grow
Build - a weighed combination of Type and Body Size
Body Size - how bulky a horse is
Type - the relationship of leg length to body length
So if you look at pictures of pony breeds like the Shetland Pony, they typically have longer bodies and short legs.
Horses like the Arabian have short bodies and long legs.

While a horse can be a horse by breed, it can still be described as having a "pony type" if its legs are short and its body is long.

This is a 17.1hh Belgian which has a 79% pony type.
That's really all there is to it.

Re: Guide request???
I really don't know what to comment at this point ^^' only because half my request seems to be continuously re-examined by various people as wonderful as it is that you are trying to help, it's only explaining a portion of my confusion and request...
I have no problem with the genetics stuff, that's not my issue, and it's not what I'm really asking for....
I want MORE than what the chart gives, the chart gives simplistic explanaitions, it doesn't give a list of percentages or help me much with determining pony vs horse types.
Thanks @Nyreia for explaining that the types depends the length of the legs to the body a little better, I am more of a visual learner so the images helped.
It's still a little hard to understand why the "horse/pony" are with the leg length specifically, only because when I think of horse verses pony I think of the height that either determines the equine to be a horse or a pony in Hands, not the bulk of the body or the length difference in the legs vs the body.
But with that cleared, it still leaves my secondary request untouched, I said nothing about being confused on the light/medium/heavy. I simply want a diagram that shows the exact percentage ranges of each body type because I myself don't have all the ranges, nor can I properly place the ranges, especially with also the inbetweens such as that of very light/medium light/medium heavy/very heavy.... ^^'
Having this on my end would be helpful to my grade projects.

Re: Guide request???
A pony is a pony based on proportion irl, not just on height. Hence miniature horses. It is a matter of leg length vs body length, as previously stated, not bulk/slimness.
I get that you want a diagram, but just doing the math yourself would not be difficult and would save someone having to write out the obvious and detail every possible permutation of type and body size combination to produce build.
