Re: Champagne with Cream and Pearl Dilutes
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2589863 - I agree with your conclusion of the genetics. Brown base.Shadow Scar wrote:I've looked throughout the forums but there's no images of each type of base coat for ch/cr and ch/prl. If anyone can figure out these eight horses base colors that would be much appreciated.
Ch/CrCh/Prl
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2834294 - Again I agree. Black base. Does this mean that you already have the answer to your base question?

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2858808 - This one is Brown. Difficult to see, but in that one-year photo, there's the barest blush along the flank area.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2863173 - This one is Brown as well. Much harder to see, though the nose in the 1-year gives it away.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2829794 - I'm almost positive this is Brown. There's flushing on the stomach at 1-year and those lower legs give me pause. So I'd pin it as brown.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2858783 - Just like the last one, I think this one is also Brown and for the same reasons I gave.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2863283 - Again, Brown.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2863616 - This one, I'm leaning more toward Bay... or Black. But more toward bay because of the leg color. Black I think should be just a tad more uniform... or with a slightly more pure color toward the white spectrum.
Those are definitely difficult. Silverine or another with dilute practice may have different conclusions. But for the most part, I agree with your line of thinking (tracking the genes through the pedigree always helps

Yeah I have no idea how I even came close to figuring out those first two.BlackOak2 wrote: Those are definitely difficult. Silverine or another with dilute practice may have different conclusions. I've been keeping track of their genes hoping it'd be easier to identify these double dilutes, but as you can see it got a little confusing. I'll defintily be doing out breeding to some non-dilute brown/black based horses to hopefully get a complete idea of what offspring they'll have. Thanks so for the help again.
If you can get only reds... or can breed out all the agouti's... the genes will be a bit easier to decipher. Entirely your decision though.
