I think that at a when they are born, a button (rather like the sell, breed, and re-home buttons) should appear, saying 'Wean foal' or simply 'Wean'. if you press it too early, the foal becomes skittish and makes it hard for them to gain weight, and if you hit it to late, or not at all, you could have like a %30 chance of loosing the foal
The problem with this is that a good portion of players breed 36 foals every in-game year... and we can easily go through as many as 10 or even 30 years for the really dedicated players... in one real-life day. Even if we don't keep all 36 foals, that's a really hectic amount of button pushing - even the way the game is, I can barely play an hour without my wrist and fingers aching - if I had to remember to press a button on every six month old foal to prevent myself potentially loosing 5 years of hard work? I don't think I'd enjoy playing anymore.
I second that. It's not fun to keep track of 36x10 foals and not be able to rehome them before the certain age, and IF my best colt I bred for several generations would die just because I forgot to push one button, well, that would be the end of it for me.

All of this ^^^
I think maybe the people that want weaning are more in the game for the aspect of doing all the different stuff one would do to take care of horses irl and not so much here for the breeding, lol.
It takes enough effort to adjust my foals’ feed when they stop drinking milk and that’s even with a notification to tell me which ones need it. I can’t imagine having to check on 30+ foals each turn to make sure I don’t miss the magic weaning day.

There should probably also be a restriction on separating foals from their dams in pastures.

I disagree strongly. What about all the foals who's moms passed on after they gave birth?

What difference does it make? Some of us are still playing the game and have opinions on features that should be added.
