Poney Francais de Selle (French Saddle Pony)

History
  • A relatively recent breed (originally founded in 1969 and stud book closed in 1991), the PFDS is a sport pony aimed at children and young adults. There are no physical characteristics yet defined for the breed, but all tend to be suited for English disciplines such as dressage, show jumping, and three-day eventing. However, they also can be used in harness races and other forms of recreational riding. They are similar to the British Riding Pony and the German Riding Pony.

    Head is small, straight or convex profile
    Long neck with prominent withers
    Wide and deep chest
    Long, sloping shoulder
    Sloping croup
    Large, clean joints and defined tendons

Breeding Goals
  • Currently, the goal is to expand the breed by increasing the number of horses available while creating a good amount of studs for public use. Then, the goal will be to move the breed toward its real life purpose: english competitions as outlined above.

First colt was just born! Unfortunately he and the first mare come from similar breeding stock and have 2/4 similar grandparents. However, he will be available for stud!
