Baladi?

EDITED: As I understand it, to fulfill *any* of the breeding quests, a player should adopt at least one of every Foundation breed (this fulfills 9 quests) and create all subsequent breeds *from scratch* from the adoptees and their descendants. Just as the Alpha Testers had to do. (And I wonder if they got "grandsired in" for those rewards?) NOT Really. But only the "Available" Quests can be fulfilled.

There are even more uses for (Arabian x North African Barb)s than there are for Baladis, so just post them. If they are good they will get good homes.

Edited: Given the availability of HGP 50K+ Arabians, it's possible to breed some high-achieving Baladis. The breed has good potential for racing and under saddle performance. Interestingly, they are needed to create Hispano-Arabians and Polish-Arabians as well as Kathiawaris.

Making an Akhal-Teke quest worked when I got an Akhal-Teke foal from two horses that I've bought, neither of which where from AC stock. I haven't adopted any horses (as far as I remember) since the quests came into play, but I was able to do that one. (Of course, AT is a product of two ancient breeds, but they didn't need to be AC horses, a mostly purebred Arab and Half Turkmene (one I bought for the "buy a pregnant mare" quest ) did the trick.) I haven't done "breed a Cleveland Bay" quest, even though I've bred a CB, because that quest isn't available for me yet. I wonder if the quest will be counted as "done" when (if ever) I get to unlock it.

I am not actively trying to get rid of my Arab x NAB horses, since I am working towards Holstein from scratch, and there are a lot of steps in the way where I will need them, but if someone takes a particular liking to one of my horses, I might sell. Getting a Baladi for me was just me getting sidetracked, when I noticed it might be possible to get one of them quests done (and earn some money and tokens) without branching out much.

The breed quests it has available for me are the five "basic" ones, Akhal-Teke, Ardennais, Baladi, Exmoor Pony, and Ob (each resulting from two Ancient parents if you're careful + lucky), plus Abyssinian, Bosnian Pony, Kirgiz, Konik, Mongolian, Norman Cob, Persian Arabian, Pindos Pony, Riwoche, and West African Barb. These ten breeds have relatively short pedigrees, largely using Ancients, basics, and not-quite-basics. If your (Przewalski Horse x Tarpan) failed to become an Exmoor Pony, it can become the progenitor of a Mongolian or Riwoche. So you can see why I thought you would be expected to make them from "scratch".

I apologize for the mistaken impression above. The basis for these breeding quests hasn't always been clear -- is there some documentation out there? I have not seen anything in the "Guides and How-To" board.

When the Quest-Tutorial system opened, I had accomplished some of the things the system hasn't given me credit for, presumably because it wasn't "Watching." For example, for weeks now the screen has put up "Tutorial: Birth Your First Foal" when in fact I've birthed and raised many. Before that (for instance), it had encouraged me to buy a horse and buy a halter for the horse -- when there were already dozens of horses in my farm and many halters in my Inventory.

So I have very mixed feelings about the Q-T rewards: always happy to get Experience Points, Pony Tokens, and game money, but there are some out there that are not worth it to me.

Just might try breeding for a Baladi myself. I've had good experiences with this breed, but largely through individuals I have purchased.
