Is this a pink LP?

Post by Jewels Training »

Just wondered if this is what's being referred to as a pink leopard pattern.

Technically there is no such thing as a "pink" horse, so he's chestnut leopard

Yeah, it looks kinda like its pink, but it's technically just a light chestnut

I think it's actually a flaxen LP red dun.

As I remember, the "pink" coloration is really just chestnut with extreme flaxen or pangare or something like that. It's just a dilution of chestnut.

The color nicknamed as 'pink' is defined by a chestnut horse with usually extreme versions of both dun and pangare. So that when the foal is born, it appears to be PINK in color.
Your foal was indeed born a pink foal and like many of these pink foals, he grew up and lost most of his defining nickname and that's mainly due to the fact that he has extreme pangare, but lacks the dun.

I don't see any real signs of dun and even his overall body coloration is quite uniform. Should he had dun, he should've retained more of the pink hue of his colt.

But like already stated, 'Pink' is just a nickname for the coloration, it's not a true color. It's a pseudo. ;)
