Balance
I've got my colt to where he's using 65% of his energy to lunge/arena/walk/15min and he's feeling a little burned out to me, with less than 0.3 gain in any given stat every time I train him, but he's not strong enough to do the next easiest thing (ground driving). Feels a lot like point and click. With so many training options maybe it could be balanced so that when you use, say, only 80% or so of a horse's energy you can use 100% of it with a minor adjustment (like going from 15 minutes to half an hour). I'm sure it's an easy matter to see how much base energy each option uses them and to lay them out in a line and see if there are any other huge gaps like this one. It doesn't even have to be when you use 80% of their energy you could use 100%. It can be any other number, but it has to be one that avoids click click click click etc otherwise no one will train!

Re: Balance
I don't know if you remember but the original training interface used a sliding bar to select duration so you could accurately select down to the minute how long you wanted to train and it gave an estimated energy cost displayed so you could adjust the time before starting the training. I changed to a drop down select list as its a lot more mobile friendly and I thought it might add a bit more challenge to the game but it seems like perhaps I should go back to the slider control. HTML5 has a built in slider control which apparently works on mobile devices so I think I'll give that a try.

Re: Balance
Actually the 5 minutes increments aren't working. I was trying to ride my colt on a loose rein, at 25 minutes he was using 48% energy and at 30 minutes he was injured. (don't forget at some point to disable training for certain ages of horse, like my yearling I'm apparently riding around like it's nothing :p )
Also, is stamina gain still happening? My colt's energy use isn't going down at all and he's still only at 2 stars in stamina.

Re: Balance
Stamina gain is probably going super slow right now due to muscle fatigue. that's why I need to get turn out and advancing days added in.
And yes there will be age and height restrictions to training (since you can't ride a mini for example).

Re: Balance
This is applicable here, so instead of starting a whole new thread...
Gave my horse a month off. Trained him, pulling a cart on hills at the gallop for two hours (hard work!) and got the same results as if I had not given him a month off. 50% energy used, no change in stats. I don't know if losing conditioning over time is linked up since it hasn't been explicitly stated, but it seems like the kind of thing that would just be added in with the training as a whole and advancing days. Or I suppose it could be on actual time instead of game time, but even then there's no decrease day to day.

Re: Balance
The same thing is happening to me, Nate. I assumed it was because the horse had already gained so many stats that it was maxing out.

Re: Balance
Yeah my horse is maxed out on stats too, but I recall in the design that condition doesn't stick around forever and top condition horses like ours are supposed to lose condition very quickly and then more slowly once they start getting into the middle ranges. If it's linked up to happen that way right now, it's not happening.

that's not programmed in just yet.
