I think they're just greying weirdly. I have noticed that the tail goes gray faster than the mane on my own horses, but never to this extreme.

I think that the tail greys faster, but from what I've seen it's just on grey horses. I had a greyish white stallion with black mane and white tail at one point.

As has been said, these horses are influenced by the Gray gene. So although the direct answer to your question is 'No, a horse's mane and tail should not appear differently (with a few exceptions).'panka33 wrote:Can the mane and tail appear in different colours or it's a glitch?
I have a couple of horses like that.
In this case, it is one of those exceptions.

The gray gene can make the mane gray out first, the tail gray out first, the body gray out first, all in unison or some other unusual variation or combination therein. Just like you see.
