Help with pretty much everything on this game...
Hi! I am quite new to the game, and I have seen topics on all kinds of training techniques, and temperaments etc... I wondered if anyone can explain to me? I assume it would be easiest to focus on a couple of horses to train up, but I would like to know how best to train them, and what effects their training and general stuff about them. For example, I saw a topic based on temperament and how to change temperament... how does temperament affect training/competitions and what is the best temperament and how to change it? Sorry if this is confusing

Training takes a lot of time. Instead of focusing on 'a few', pick one that you don't care if it's ruined or not and focus on that ONE until you get a handle on it.tinyfox wrote:Hi! For a snap course on it:
Stamina will make training all the other stats quicker, so focus on stamina first, then the others. With little or no player skills completed, expect to be about 9 years before your horse is 'fully' trained (full training on HWO accepted as 99% and NOT 100%, with a little wiggle room).
Temperament, just like in real life will affect how a horse handles it's competitions (not training, temp doesn't appear to affect training). A horse that is spirited or high strung will perform better in a sprint, a race, or a harness competition... the theory is that a higher temperament makes for a quicker response on the body and perhaps a more sustained or higher overall speed... but that can offer a lot of arguments.

Likewise, a bombproof log puller is more easily controlled overall, plus can control their overall strength in a more uniform fashion... again, theory.
So by moving our temperaments on the game into certain areas, we can optimize our horse's competition performances.
The basic understanding of temp-modification is: Sugar goes upward, Fiber goes downward. Barn is best for anything above bombproof, for bombproof, straight pasture.
And as Lex123 did say, my quick start guide and my quicklinks in my signature can help you a bit... although, it does look like you've already hit upon a number of them.
