The Next Million Dollar Challenge! : Your ideas

Post by Vaxxine »

Hello again,

I want your vote for the next Million Dollar Challenge!
The player who suggests the winning challenge will win 150,000!

[If an admin suggests the winning challenge, I will host high purse events for a week in their favorite discipline]

Challenge Ideas:
[X represents a variable to be determined at a later date]

6 Gen HGP Challenge
-Horses may be bred from foundation stock only, and may not have more than 6 generations of known ancestors. After 1 month, the horse with the highest HGP wins

6 Gen Sport Challenge
-Horses may be bred from foundation stock only, and may not have more than 6 generations of known ancestors. After 1 month, a competition is held. Winner wins.

Body Type Challenge
-After 1 month, horses are judged on how closely they resemble the ideal body type for sport X.
The top 5 horses will be placed up for public vote. Most votes wins regardless of br/HGP.

HGP Foal Challenge
-A stallion will be provided. Players may use any broodmare, but may only partake in the challenge if they use the provided stallion. Highest HGP after 1 month wins.

Likeness Foal Challenge
-A stallion will be provided. Players may use any broodmare, but may only partake in the challenge if they use the provided stallion. After 1 month the horse who is most like their sire will win. COI should be kept under 50% for this challenge. In a result of a tie, the horse with the lowest COI wins.

Low HGP Challenge
-After 1 month the horse with the lowest total HGP wins.

Sire Challenge
-After 1 month, stallions are judged on their offspring as follows:

Noncompetitive: 2 points/each
Competitive: 30 points/each
Record Holder: 200 points/each

Stallion with the highest total wins

0% coi Challenge
-after 1 month, the horse with the highest HGP and 0% coi wins

The challenge deadline has been extended and will now be picked sometime near the September10th weekend

This sounds great! I like the Sire Challenge, Body Type Challenge and the Foal Challenge. Perhaps a challenge where a stallion is provided and the player that can produce a foal most like him with a COI of less than 50% in a month will win?

I like any challenge.

How about the worst, lowest gp? everyone always goes for the highests.
Or just the lowest individual gp. Like 2 in tempo or 5 in stamina?

I've included your ideas in the list.
I'm going to put a ♥ for each person who likes that challenge. It isn't really a voting system, just an easy way to see which are the most popular. You may support multiple challenges.

Love the feedback, Keep it coming and Thank you for taking part!

I've been contemplating on this alongside the 0% COI project I've been working on.

I think a 0% COI breed project would be cool with two winner classes -
1. The person who breeds the best 0% COI horse of {breed} for {discipline}
2. A horse randomly selected from the pool of sucessfully bred 0% COI {breed} horses (obviously can't be a duplicate of the first group)

Everyone would have a deadline (a month? two?) to breed their horse(s) for entry. Those aiming for the best horse prize would enter it into a competition run at the end and the winning horse from the breed group would be crowned winner.

Winners could perhaps choose between the following prizes:
- 1,000,000 HWO dollars
- 10 foundation horses of their choice {equivalent to 250 PT value, since we can't directly trade PT}
- Custom icon/banner (I'm not the best in the world, but I can make relatively simple vector graphics and it might be an interesting option for those who don't need the $ or the foundies)

I think it's an interesting choice for a competition because it could:
- Encourage sales of horses that have been sitting in the sales
- Encourage collaboration between players to post high quality studs or buy/sell horses from one another (particularly in the sense of player A has only females and needs males and player B has the opposite problem)
- Encourage PT sales for those players who like to buy PTs
- Inject a lot of new blood into a breed and the breeds that go into it's creation

I think it's a potentially tricky choice because:
- It could require a lot of PT to import new foundation horses if none are in the sales (though if players adopted a use one, sell one process, newer players COULD get away with never spending a single PT)
- It requires a lot of playtime, depending on the target breed

Other thoughts:
- Players could register into a beginner category (breed with fewer generations to create) and an open category (more gens to create)
- I'm happy to co-sponsor for some of the prizes (maybe someone with better art skills would also like to co-sponsor the banner/icon prize?)
- Can't seem to determine what breed(s) would be a good choice for this? Maybe something on the level of Andalusians?

I like the idea of foundation horses for prizes! Your idea has been added to the list.

We're now past the original deadline, but there is still no clear winner. I encourage everyone to vote on the remaining challenge ideas. If it's still an even tie by the 10th, the winner will be picked at random. Happy voting :)

I like the 6-gen HGP challenge idea, with the additional parameter of everyone using foundation stock to breed either the same medium tier breed (like Andalusians, as tazza mentioned), or everyone picks from a list of roughly equivalent tier breeds, and then have a horse evaluated for GP after a certain time period passes.

Breed book cost might be a good benchmark to determine what "tier" a breed is, if that idea ends up getting traction. For instance, what I'm calling medium tier seems to be book cost between $1000 and $1999

You're brilliant! I never would have thought to use the books to check it.

I just checked all the breeds in that range, then whittled it down to the book cost that seems to equate to 6 generations. It narrows the breeds down to:

Andalusian
Banker
Burma Pony
Cape Horse
Fleuva
Indian Country Bred
Tiashu
Zaniskari Pony

So maybe a 6-gen GP or 6-gen sport challenge using one (or more) of those breeds? The 6-gen sport could be fun in that, if all of the breeds were options, players could do some research before choosing to pick which one is composed of foundation breeds that have the best starting stats for their discipline.
