Any color help with these horses?

Post by Mesahorseluvr »

Hello all! I am having troubles figuring color on a few horses. I am still pretty new to the game, so if that says anything, haha. Anyways, here are the horses. Hopefully I made the links correctly. I breed mainly Arabians, but just recently bought a pair of Shires. Standing Ovation I purchased, Hotrod Gold was bred by me a while back, Second To None and Silver Dollar Beauty were purchased today. If you could help me determine their coats, that would help immensely! Thanks in advance to all who answer!

Standing Ovation

Hotrod Gold

Second To None

Silver Dollar Beauty

Standing Ovation's markings would be called a blanket, not appaloosa. Appaloosa is a breed, not color. As for Hotrod Gold he looks to be a chestnut or bay, its easier to tell the color once they turn 1. The other two look right to me.

Standing Ovation is probably Perlino champagne, means he has champagne (1) and doublecream on bay base, he will always give one cream to his progeny. Perlino champagne looks close to amber cream (the single cream version), but mane and legs are bit more silvery. Not going to comment on the leopard pattern. ;)

Thanks for the help guys! So Standing Ovation isn't an Amber Champagne Cream Blanket?

Depends how you want to call it, in my opinion "Amber Champagne" is Bay with Champagne and "Amber Cream" a Bay with Champagne and Cream, yours is Champagne and Doublecream. I am going with this thread: LINK
