Dapple Roan?
So, just a simple question, does anybody know of any dapple roans in the game? Or can dapples and roan not express themselves on the same horse? I asked a real life equine genetics page and all the answers said in real life they can both show on the same horse but I'm not sure if the game's code includes that.

Are you talking Silver Dapple Roan? Yes it can, though the dapples do fade sometimes as they age (or with training bloom)ArcticDahlia wrote:So, just a simple question, does anybody know of any dapple roans in the game? Re: Dapple Roan?
I’m pretty sure there is a silver roan, silver dapple with roan (on black base, if the horse had silver gene and roan on red base the horse would just be red roan)ArcticDahlia wrote:So, just a simple question, does anybody know of any dapple roans in the game? Re: Dapple Roan?
I am not sure if this what you were looking for but, this is my mare who is Sooty Dapple Roan, but she only has dapples because of the sooty. Not sure if this type of dappling can happen without sooty.ArcticDahlia wrote:So, just a simple question, does anybody know of any dapple roans in the game? There are three colours/markings that people refer to as dapple (that I know of)HallOfFame 2 wrote:I am not sure if this what you were looking for but, this is my mare who is Sooty Dapple Roan, but she only has dapples because of the sooty. Dappling caused by a horse greying out.
Dappling caused by sooty.
Dappling caused by silver.
Dapples caused by greying - I'm sure you've seen this at some point, if not in-game, then in real life. It doesn't last long and is unlikely what ArcticDahlia.
And you're correct - dappling like what's on your horse can only occur with sooty - this can show up on any colour except black, as of now, I am still uncertain as to whether sooty can show up on black dilutes in the game. I think this is most likely what ArcticDahlia was referring to - it's difficult to see sooty dapples when the horse is roan.
Silver dapple specifically refers to silver black - in other words, the silver gene on a black coat. Silver on a black coat (with or without dilutions) oftentimes has dapples.

Re: Dapple Roan?
Sorry, I know this is an older thread but I think I have an example of what I meant, I know I worded it pretty badly lol. I was wondering if regular roan (without sooty) could show up on a dapple horse. So a combination of Rn/_ and Z/_... after a ton of breeding, I have this girl that's the closest maybe I've seen:Malakai10 wrote:There are three colours/markings that people refer to as dapple (that I know of)

Novakala
To me it looks like she could be roan with really light dappling, but I'm not 100% sure.
EDIT:I'm not sure why her most recent photo isn't showing up. In her 6 month picture she doesn't look like she has anything but at a year she looks way different.

Re: Dapple Roan?
The answer is yes, silver (Z, it's only called silver dapple when the horse has a black base coat) and roan can show up together and, theoretically, you can get a silver dapple and roan with visible dappling. In practise, the roan will probably mask the dappling effect unless you have a very bold and highly contrasted dapple.ArcticDahlia wrote:
